Disney Pixar CARS: CARS Carrying Case … Sort Of …
There is a new carrying CARS Carrying Case which is nice in some aspects … not from Mattel, from a company called Tara Toys.
It’s nice solid plastic and a nice graphic on the front. It’s only $9.99. The clip seems sturdy but once you open it, it does have some major flaws that they might’ve noticed if they actually bought some of the Mattel 1:55 CARS. 🙂
While McQueen and Sally fit fine – Doc is too long and King is a too tight of a fit AND too long. Mater, forgetaboutit … so if you’re only collecting CARS of a certain length and girth, this is the perfect carrying case.
It is the perfect carrying case for MINI’s though so that’s something … so if you’ve been looking for a nice but not too expensive carrying case for your MINI’s … this’ll do.
It only seems to be at Target so far. Shelved with the CARS box sets though not from Mattel.
They do sell other cases for Hot Wheels (including the hanging door one) and they seem to offer this same case in black for Hot Wheels that holds “48 cars,” not sure how they thought the same size case could hold 50 of the larger scale CARS unless all you’re collecting are Pitty’s and Chuki’s?
So, not so great for 1:55 CARS but acceptable for CARS MINI’s.

Looks great though I’m not sure I can pick up this case … she’s a mom, she can carry all the kids, the stroller, all the toys and a Starbucks …

I’ll buy a couple just for the McQueens alone. It’s what I was thinking about doing with the gigantic Mack carrier that TRU has, and this is quite a bit cheaper…

Rainman of Cars (Johnny from Missourah) – Question for you… How many of these $10 target cases do we need to buy to fit all of the cars released so far, minus megasize. Assuming you can have 45 in each case…. How many 1:55 releases so far?

They all fit just fine if you cut off those extra Cars parts (sorry Wingo) and push down on the lid hard enough.

Hahaha! You do definitely need to give the lid an extra push to close it with King…etc in there 🙂
After seeing this though, I feel like I want one for my minis 🙂 They just look cute in there ! However, they tend to fit in ANY case you buy so….. might save myself $4 and buy another Jammer.
We got the case for my son, and I was able to get Mater in the middle.
at my local target i saw the case but it didn’t have the big compartment in the middle. we have the over the door holder for my son’s hot wheels but some of them don’t even fit in that any way. i would love an over the door hanger for our disney cars that actually fit the cars and maybe some compartments for the bigger things like frank and aloft. right now all our cars are in a giant blasic bin.
oh and the local target hasn’t put much new out either. the only new thing since last time i was there was chick mia and tia fans set and the mini spin out mqueen set. but they had like 3 or 4 people working on the reset so i hope to see somthing new in a day or two.
is it me or is EVERYONE missing the picture of all the NEW MINIS in the case?? Charlie checkers, axel accelerator,cactus/spin out mcqueen, ro tom…man they look good!

Those cars in the first picture sure look disproportional then for regular diecast. The Dale Jr. for example looks really boxy, and my axel doesn’t pale in comparison to leakless like the picture above. The kings don’t seem to hang out as much as shown above it in a case. likewise with the docs. Sure look like mini’s to me
I’ve been buying these clear plastic cases from Menard’s that have adjustable sized compartments. They are made by the Plano Molding Company of Plano, IL.
The cases have four or five rows, and come with dividers that let you make each compartment the length you need. I bought the small ones for the minis and the larger ones hold most cars. Not the Oversized, but most of the rest. The cases were under $3-4 each, and the smaller ones around $2.

There is a place in San Francisco that makes donuts topped with bacon, I hear they are delish.
I think we will use a combo of this case and the Jammers from Walmart to store the cars. The Jammers are nicer I think because you can see them from the side.. but the big ones just don’t fit. So I use the other one for Ramone, FHH, Sheriff, and King, etc. However, there are still a few that won’t fit… UGH! Owell, can’t have everything I guess. $10 seems a bit excessive…. $6 is better! 🙂
i saw 5 of this case at Target and they had less compartments. they had one compartment for each 4 compartments in the one shown above. the compartments were the size of the large center compartment. front still said it holds ups to 50 cars.
It was sort of a sad day…….WM had the TREV CARRYING CASE on final clearance! The last one was missing one of the upper doors, very sad.
Oh no! How sad. How much are they on clearance? I wish ours would clearance. I want one more.. but keep hesitating 🙂

Look at the picture with Fiddleheads son Teree on the floor with the containers all spread out.
The ones with the yellow closures are in the fishing tackle section at Walmart. They fit all the large but some of the mega size like Dustin Mellows, Sven and the Cabs (only have Mack cab) but not the Haulers. Because it has adjustable dividers, Hank, Greta, Tex, The King and Mrs. the King, Wingo, DJ, Mater, Red even 2 small Blimps fit side-by-side. Elvis, Marco, Mega Al Oft Blimp do not fit unless maybe you can cut the horizontal fixed pieces. Can’t remember the price but I think $5-$7 (it might have been a utility box for $5.96). Elvis, Frank, Dustin and Sven and the Haulers all stay out to play with. My Ramones and Docs fit at an angle top to bottom beside each other for maximum capacity. We also have the ones like chuki_mama in the post above for all the smaller cars.

We picked this up this weekend in hopes that it could hold our Racers and Pittys and Crew Chiefs. I put a Ramone in and he fit fine, and he’s pretty long. So will update once we get a chance to get ’em open! I looked around Walmart, including at that $6 translucent one, and the fishing tackle boxes, and the knickknack sorting boxes in hardware, and none seem to be any better.
I bought the ones from WM and they work fine. There are only a few cars that can’t fit. Plus, it is nice that my son can see through it so he can find the ones he wants to play with instead of having to dig through all of them.
I’ll Pass, I’d hate to see it accidentally open and all the cookies fall out! next…!
Im just so curious – Why hasnt Mattel made one? All the other diecasts that kids collect are smaller, and those cases dont work for Cars. It seems obvious if you want to make hundreds of something you want people to collect, you would want them to be able to store them.
There is everything from toilet paper to underwear to slippers available with Cars theme. Why is my only option $100? or like this one, non-functional?

What, the plastic ones or case’s in general? I dont think they WOOD have to be a $9 crap case for people to buy them. Even non-collector parents WOOD like to have a organized storage solution for these. I bet they could ask $29 or $39 if it was nice and held a large number of cars. I am KNOT going to give up!!!! Mattel make a nice one and we will buy it! Well maybe KNOT pirate!!!

I’ve been using the oval racetrack cases that nobody seems to want from Toysrus as they have been on clearance for about a year now. They fit everything except for the megasize. Unfortunately, you have to double or triple up the number of cars in each cell to actually fit any real amount of cars in them. I’d love to hear more about the case from Walmart (clear one) that was mentioned. I’ve never seen that one.

I bought one at a Target in Indianapolis this weekend. I figured it would be good to hold some of the ones that I want to pull from my main display cases since I’m rapidly running out of room in those. Mater, Red, Tow, Dexter (with flag) are too big… but almost all the rest fit.
