This was the old internal note from late 2008 about the (then) 2009 TRU promos …
As many of you might remember, the Gask-Its Buy 5 Get a Free CAR was canceled at the last minute. No one is sure why or what happened though the Gask-Its promo is available in France.
However, the rumor is the Tach O Mint promo is or will be back on in October 2009.
While the flyer above shows the Race O Rama cards, presumably it will be updated to include the lenticulars as that is the ONLY singles line TRU is selling (and probably any stray leftovers from ROR or WOC or in one store, SC card CARS).
So, don’t buy the 5 lenticular LM’s just yet, wait until October to strip the shelves clear 🙂
However, I would not bet money or stake any body parts that it will actually happen – this way you will pleasantly surprised if you walk into a TRU on 10/1 or 9/25 and there are flyers announcing the event but don’t exactly count all your CARS absolutely on this happening … 🙁 … fair warning …

Ok, so what’s going on with the Promo, it’s Novemeber 5th?
Will the racers that have been released as promos or even in launchers only, be released as singles (and not 4 pks) any time soon? Like Fiber Fuel/Sidewall Shine/Gask-its etc?
Some Launchers will be released as K-Mart singles. Ex: Mood Springs, Easy Idle, Trunk Fresh and Octane Gain.
Promos MAY eventually be released as Launchers or K-Mart singles. N2O was a TRU promo and is scheduled as a Launcher AND a K-Mart car.
I don’t think anyone can say for certain that any promo will be re-released apart from what we already know.
Maybe someone has info on K-Mart Day 4?!?!

I just tried that with Patti. Only she didn’t just follow me with her piercing, newly created “lenticular” eyes – she also appeared to be mocking me with a glaze that said nothing short of “put your pants back on and trade me to a good home!”. Maybe I should have stuck to Heineken? Damn it all! (Check please)

Crap! I guess I will have to buy like 25 goofy-eyed LMQs just to get enough trading fodder to get me through the holiday season! Would be nice to get another US exclusive so we can finally trade something for those tasty Creme Filled Gask-Its! Hold on my French peeps … good stuff a comin’ … maybe … 🙂

Wow it’s like the last 3 days all I can keep saying is wow! I can wait until theft get here !! Now get here!!!! LOL what needs to happen is Mattel needs to bring both gaskits AND tachomint back at the same time ! One for Canadian promo and then the other for us!!!!! And then we can trade with our buds in Canada and we can all be happy!!!!! Only in our dreams right. 🙂

Oh, Great – ANOTHER store exclusive that is NOT available to us because there is not a TRU near us!?!
Collecting is EXPENSIVE enough without having to pay more for shipping from other collectors or on EPAY if we want new product because too many exclusives are NOT available due to no stores nearby or stores not stocking there own exclusives!
Too many store exclusives equals too many gaps in our collection which is a BIG turn-off from collecting!
I think Pixar Cars die-casts have “jumped the shark”?!?
For the love of Pete, DO NOT DO EPAY for this. Hook up with another collector here. I would gladly buy 5 Cars for you at TRU and ship them (or even just the carbacks) to you as cheaply as possible with the receipt so you could do the mail in, that would only cost you an extra buck or so, unless you wanted the whole 5 cars, that would cost an extra $5 or so for the postage. I have helped out Les Canadiens with this before too. Those poor sods get the extra rip off of paying outrageous international postage rates.
Bring them both on…..I would love to have a couple of each.
No! Not more stupid lenticulars! Mattel cancel the lenticulars NOW! I hope they die soon. Also will Tach O mint be avalible anywhere else and is this promo car lenticular?
Unless I’m mistaken, lenticulars are the wave of the future for most retailers, as Target will be the only retailer of the traditional CARS line.

For us with real jobs, we have to compete with the weekend warriors that set up at flea markets and other shows, trying to scam folks for a few extra dollars. Those of you outside of the states, I wish you luck. Maybe some day we can get a few of those Pacific boats up the Atlantic.
The comment about Canada, as I read it, was referring to the TRU promotion for Tach-O-Mint that would not include Canada. I might be wrong.

Yeah, and don’t forget we got Whitewall MQ and Cabbage MQ before you guys, but each came in a movie moment with Cars we already had, so essentially we paid $11 for these. How’s that for a slap in the face?
Seriously, I appreciate the offers. You people are very nice. It just really sucks that we can’t get anything to trade with or that (even at cost with your help) these promo cars will cost us $30-40 with shipping and dollar conversion.

If this turns out to be true, it’s definitely great news… I’d even buy duplicates and lenticulars I didn’t plan on buying to get Tach-O-Mint. I’m still disappointed that Gask-its was canceled. We’ll see what happens…

I’ve refused to buy any lenticulars so far. So this would actually work out ok for me as they ‘technically’ wouldn’t be repeat cars I’d end up with.
