Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Diecasts 2022 and the Not-Real Poster
So far in 2022, we have not had a lot of new releases unless you count new variants with the eyelid line but the plan seems to be:
a) restock from 2021 when many/most retail stores did not get much stock.
b) building up the base for new kids coming onboard when the new CARS on the Road TV series arrives.
So, yes, not so great for long time collectors but it’s only temporary, there are “new listings” about 3-4 cases away which might be early as July? But Disney+ might be saving the series for September?? Streaming premieres are hard to guess … but when we start seeming promos and trailers for the show, it’s a coming …
Somewhat related is this “fake” poster out there. Thanks to a reader who sent me a copy … (I blurred it). It is accurate for the releases out (nothing really new except for the CARS 2 statue CAR listed as a release from a few years back but never actually out).
The creator was pretty clever but made one mistake. The “Monument Valley” (Radiator Springs) design from the current cards would NEVER be approved by Disney as a blurred background.* 🙂
*I blurred it further but trust me, it was blurred.

Interesting, why’d you blur it out? This is a good test to see how well we know our cars! 🙂
(MET: Since I didn’t create it or have permission to post it, I just clipped a portion and blurred as reference. I’m presuming it’s out there on the internet).
Part A of the plan is not a big success so far… our stores are very dry of Cars lately. I have not seen any Deluxe yet and saw few 2-pack at a Target only ONCE! Hopefully summer time have the plan A on steroids!!! 😀
(MET: Mattel says they are aware and presumably trying to fit it … when people send me “sad” pics, I forward it so they know …).
