Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: 1st Ever CARS 2 Mater Without the Race Team
Thanks, “Mark T,” for the photo and heads up … for the detailed fanatics, the new 2-pack of “CARS 2” Mater & CARS Lightning with Racing Wheels features the first ever “plain” CARS 2 Mater without the Race Team designation-decal (or different version releases like Mater with No Tires, et al).
Now, I have no studied the eye position so in theory, you could argie it’s a variant but it essentially looks like “Mater,” sp I’m jot listing it as a variant … but f course, you are free to collect ot.
For anyone curious, this is the 1st scene Mater appears in CARS 2, looking essentially like CARS 1 Mater without the Race Team 95 decal.

Does it ever tell us or gives clues why Mater’s back wheels change color in CARS 2?

I’m showing a CARS 1 Mater from Thailand in my collection, but not a Race Team Mater from Thailand. Would you confirm this is a RT Mater with no logo and not just Mater from Cars 1?

(MET: I’m presuming so but it’s a “CARS 2” logo card so officially, Mattel is calling him CARS 2 Mater but yea, I’m presuming it’s just a CARS 1 Mater or for that matter, a CARS 3 Mater as he has never really changed … though there are probably a dozen production changes-tweaks “variants.”)
