Car Execs Paid to Play with Cars …
Apparently, once upon a time, in the 1950’s and 1960’s auto companies used to commision scale models of their lineup … looks like fun …
Here, Chrysler claimed it was to help the build and plan out factories so if anyone asks why you built a scale replica of Radiator Springs, just tell you are an efficiency expert.
Ford executives selecting the 1953 automobile colors from 76 …(ie: Humm, I just can’t envision this in white, make me a 1:12 scale model … while you’re at it, make one of everything).
I made similar “efficiency planning models” for the U.S.P.S., Rapistan (conveyors), Monsanto (Chemicals, Ag, and Enviro-Chem), Anheuser-Busch and others back when I worked as a professional model builder.
(MET: Nice! Got any pics to send us??)
Professional Model Builder?? Nice! You must have one heck of a Radiator Springs setup at home!
I gave that career up 16 years ago, digital media and CGI was making such heavy inroads that there was less and less work every year. My main thing was always trains, but no layout, and now books have overtaken the basement.
