So this one hits close for me. My dad flew 76 missions in the B-25, flying out of Alesan Field, Corsica (where Joseph Heller also was, the author of “Catch-22”), and then Rimini on the Italian mainland. Dad was in the 489th Bomb Squadron, 340th Bomb Group, 57th Bomb Wing, 12th Air Force. I’ve got his ‘Squadron yearbook’ (think high school yearbook) which several of the unit’s veterans published just after the war. For lots more information:
