Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Walmart Update
“Big Bad A-Man’s Dad” notes that Walmart has begun their clearance of CARS 2016.
“… seems most of the stores (5 of 7) in my vicinity have cycled a major markdown on the remainder of their cars 1 and 2 diecasts (as well as Road Trip, ice and carbon racers). 50-75% off.
In my area at least, deluxe vehicles are down to $3 and all singles are $1. I asked my brother who is a grocery manager with the chain if the other 2 stores in my area “missed the memo”. He said it seems likely and that it was probably a blanket markdown vs. a store specific markdown since the other stores all seemed to have the lower price. Apparently, the toys manager has to verify a count on pieces before the markdown is activated/effective. None of the stores had these “clearance” items pegged with Cars 3 merchandise. Clearance is just kind of randomly pegged somewhere in the toys dept “flex” space so it may require some searching.”
Thanks, “Big Bad A-Man’s Dad”
Remember that most WM clearance sections seem to be near the pet food section so check there also.
It looks like Walmart is getting in CARS 3 singles on June 1 so if you hold out, they seem to be holding the line at $3.47 – the next CASES are pretty much the same but there’s a scattering of new racers.
See our CHART here for singles coming in next cases.
Update to my Tacoma, WA post about Wal-Mart. I stopped in at the Wal-Mart on Union Avenue. The pegs were stocked with the single packs at $3.47. Next door Target was selling at $3.99. If Target is a barometer they are not selling.
Wal-Mart has been rather perplexing. The Wal-Marts in my area (Greater Tacoma/Lakewood/Puyallup) have had some new deluxe castings and trailers, but, zero in singles. I cannot even find a single pack from Cars 1 or 2. As to peg warmers I think there are going to be a lot. I’ve noticed the pegs at Target have been stocked, but, nothing is moving. My local TRU has the Cars 3 single packs for $3.00. Moms and dads may have been put off with the car violence of Cars 2 and may be passing these up until viewing the movie, if they take their kids to the movie at all.
With Target, Toys R Us, Kmart, and Walgreen’s getting a 1-month head start, Walmart would need to sell Singles at $2.47 or even $1.97 to to prevent a massive glut of pegwarmers this summer.
