Since we can’t afford the NPD reports (5-figures) when they actually come out, we can only read the ones from earlier … here’s the golden years of Disney Pixar CARS ,,,
This only covers licensed toys … Disney Pixar CARS was 2-million away from being #1 in 2007 – beat out by Dora the Explorer, who would’ve guess that (CARS: Who swiped our crown – that flea bitten monkey! 🙂 ).
I believe CARS topped $300 million in 2011 (when CARS 2 came out) but couldn’t beat out Star Wars.
Where does CARS stand now?

That photo is my Walmarts around me. Nothing on the shelf except a few stragglers. Last time I counted 14 Cars, 8 of which were repeats of one two-pack.
I noticed Target increased the Cars prices from $3.49 to $3.99 recently.
Now I can’t deny that CARS sales have declined since the “old days” but that picture surely does not describe the entire line at the moment! Many new cars coming out and already out all over the world
(MET: No problem with the sculpts, just the distribution I’m harping on).
But that’s the problem Bumper Save… around the world 🙁 Distribution still sucks in the US for the most part 🙁 I don’t mind paying a few cents more if it means getting new product on the pegs every so often. And no… I don’t mean TRU prices. Those are just insane. I rather Ebay at that point just to avoid TRUs insane prices.
Remember when some CTT/PCD/TFAD members kept on finding x3+ Caratekas Super Chase while other parts of the country didn’t get anything in at all? I’m usually able to at least see remnants of cases but everything has been dry for so long now… Every once in a blue moon my local Walmart gets a new case. Hopefully Mattel fixes this soon 🙁
