In a nice change of pace, the PLANES F&R Control Tower Playset looks canon, in scale AND it’s reasonably priced!
While the Pitty is presumably plastic – it’s still nice. His Her name is PATCH!
There is actually a Maru hanger playset coming, no photos yet but hopefully if it looks like the forthcoming Dottie one, it will look great next to this one. A great display for PLANES.
It’s been a LONG WAIT for a canon display … was the last one from CARS in 2006? 🙂

Yes, both Dusty and Patch are plastic.
Kinda figured Patch would be plastic, but it may be the only way to get her for a while — as an example, the diecast Sparky they eventually made was huge, so I kept my plastic Sparky anyway.
Got mine yesterday, Patch is plastic, with stickers, but it is a nicely scaled model, and will suffice for such a minor character. The rest of the playset is pretty lame though; I can’t see it keeping a kid engaged for longer than two minutes.
I bought this set at Meijer for $10.99… it looks nice… however, the box shows 3 pieces of runway and it only comes with 2… the printed instructions only show 2 pieces of runway as well.
If you buy a bunch could you setup the runway as long as you want and two wide?
The runway length can indeed be added to with extra pieces if you go that route, but it can’t be widened because of the design and placement of the clips.

Mattel has Patch’s gender wrong in their official write-up.
The tower is semi-canon. In the movie it appeared that a series of ramps leads around the tower to reach the control room. That makes sense for a remote rural location where an elevator might be too high tech and unreliable. As a toy Mattel went with a “kid powered” elevator. A roll-down ramp around the tower might have been more fun.
This set is available from Mattel.com at the same price and they also have the fairly rare Spanish and Judge Davis gift sets at a good price. Buy all three and the total is just enough to pass the $35 cut-off for free US shipping.
