Mattel Disney Pixar CARS: Action Shifters Stuck in Gear?
As you may have noticed, a whole slew of playsets have just been released – it is strange that they did not arrive before the holiday selling season but arriving now?
The Action Shifters are a strange line extension – as Mattel has always tried to supplement the metal diecast with a plastic line about the same scale … the latest attempt are Action Shifters which are revamped old school playsets with a “launcher” action element. Unlike other plastic line extension attempts, there does NOT seem be singles.
You get a plastic car with each playset.
Luigi’s Tire Shop
Yes, your metal 1:55 diecasts should work on these but I have not tested it out.
Ramone’s Body Shop
And Flo’s V8 Cafe Dragstrip which at least seems the most fun – though none of them are very canon.
In addition, the Dirt Track Raceway has been re-released (I forgot the old name) – not an Action Shifter playset, a mainline re-release though also not very canon.
Some photos supplied by “John H.” – thanks!
What the heck is going on?! I have not found a single new toy in over a month besides stupid ninja turtles. This is getting ridiculous! How much longer until new product starts making it out to retail?
Finally found carla, megan and acer today. So happy!
Although it qas almost ruined by an old ebay scalper. Some old man got mad because I beat him to the cars and the first thing he says is, your selling on ebay, I guarantee your selling on ebay. Little did he kno that I think ebay scalpers are the scum of the earth and I went off on him. I struggle collecting these cars, and if hes not a scalper then why the hell is his old ass buying these plus hot wheels and then calling me an ebay scalper. Yea, he didnt get to scalp cars today, he can have the hot wheels.
The two months after Christmas are usually terrible. The stores are still clearancing all the stuff that didn’t sell and not stocking new items.
Mr. McGuire: I just want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Exactly how do you mean?
