Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: CARS 1 Collectors Checklist 2006 to 2013, Part 2
PART 1 is HERE of the CARS 1 checklists.
There is a bubble circle to indicate a Classic (fixed eyes release); a lenticular release and/or a Kmart release with Rubber Tires.
There is also another column to indicate minor (yellow) or major variants (green).
It is subjective but generally, it’s the 2-foot rule. If you can spot it from 2-feet away, it’s a major variant. Obvious ones are Al Oft going from a 3″ single to a 6″ oversized re-release.
You could argue it’s hard to tell the rubber tire releases from the plastic tire releases but since they’re considered major releases, the rubber tire Piston Cup racers get the green “go” button.
In 2013, there were some surprising upgrades in that previous segmented, 2-piece “plastic face” diecasts were re-released/replaced with all metal unibodies diecast versions. Now, some are very hard to tell like Fred but instead of being subjective here, any diecast re-released as a unibody gets the green.
In some cases, there are more than 2 variant releases but most are minor so I drew the line at 2.
Brown indicates a Disney Store release.
This is Part 2 of 2. You can right click to PRINT.
This is ONLY CARS 1 diecasts released through 2013. Technically Nelson Blindspot is considered 2014 but since it arrived so early, I included it here.
I don’t promise these are mistake free. 🙂 So, you may need to pull out some markers and fix them yourself. (Yep, I forgot Jay W.  & Pit Crew Member Flo (with large oil can – since I haven’t opened those yet, oops).
So, you should have around 481 CARS 1 diecasts* if you also collect lenticulars, rubber tire racers, and all the variants.
* Includes Jay W. & Pit Crew Member Flo.
If you didn’t collect lenticulars, you can subtract 97 (lenticular variants are not counted). If you don’t collect racers separate, you can subtract another 35.
So, how close are you to 481? What’s your over/under?
What about Damaged Mood Springs?
Nevermind. You can delete this.
Pit Crew Member Flo is missing…
That’s a 2014 release.
How many line items do you have there MET? That’s pretty much how I collected them…..by name as you have it. Except I didn’t get a hauler where I could get a cab in some cases…. Didn’t collect lentys unless I had to to get that line item.
(MET: New everything mainline list just posted – 10 pages – @605 CARS … at least).
I went even farther, and where the Car was only available in a Lenticular (ugh), I bought a second non-lenticular of the same general body style, took both apart, and blended the two to make a new non-lenticular of the original. Mater with ghostlight lantern, Willmar Flatz, etc. Luckily there are only a few like that. I really hate the lenticulars!
(MET: Impressive! Send some photos!)
But I don’t open them!
I can certainly do that, where might I send them?
MET, no I meant line items for Cars 1. Not total vehicles with variants and all that, just number of line items for Cars 1….I mean if you take your two Cars 1 lists, how many total rows are there???
(MET: Well, there are 300 rows of CARS 1 but that includes lenticulars which take up a row with no equivalent classic release so you have to subtract those out plus I left off a few so … it’s a guideline. 🙂 ).
That’s OK, because like I said, in the case where only lenticulars were available, I got them, so no need to subtract them out. So around 300? Seems like I have way more than that! I guess I do, with all the Kmart stuff too and duplicates in box sets. Thanks!!
So if there is supposed to be 481, why do we have like 2000 of them?!
(MET: I think the ratio of Lightning is 1:1 on repeat releases so you might have about 600 Lightning’s – I do. 🙂 ).
Wasn’t “Lightning McQueen with Sign” a Chase piece?
(MET: Yea, I may have lost track of the CHASE thing).
the two pack with fred? I don’t think so…are you thinking of the chase lenty with name plate in pavement?
Is McQueen any different in that two-pack?
Whoops, I just remembered the Chase piece was DINOCO McQueen, which is indeed on your Part 2 list.
