Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast 2014: Neon CARS Racer Series
A few weeks back, there was a listing for CARS NEON. Naturally, it was presumed they would be the Tuners … well, not exactly. Instead they are neon-glowing the WGP racers …
There are no details other than they are diecast – presumably the glow of the stickers/decals seen here are the glow portion like the expanded yellow striping around Lewis Hamilton.
Are these also VUM-color metallic-Ransburg? It does look like it – Lewis is hard to tell but Lightning certainly looks it. Clearly the glow on the 95 are neon glow elements – are there others? The flames?
You’ll also note that this is definitely a new Lightning McQueen deco. It’s the look from the Tales of Radiator Springs shorts – though they fancied him up and added additional flames around the Piston Cup HH logo on his hood – also glow elements?
Max Schnell.
Miguel Camino also looks color metallic.
Raoul definitely looks more color metallic also.
This is everything in CASE A. The only other racer listed is Shu – presumably available in CASE B. The other 5 are not listed – if these sell, they will continue the series – er, hopefully and not leaving us hanging YET AGAIN.
There is a 4-pack listed and a trackset set.*
Strangely these are NOT a theme but their own separate listing and UPC – presumably because they are charging extra for them.
You in?
Here’s part of the official description, they are excited, an exclamation point after every sentence! – “Favorite character vehicles from the beloved Disney • Pixar Cars movies have been given an enhanced makeover! Each features exclusive metallic decos that make them neon chic and ready to rock the streets of Radiator Springs and beyond! Kids will want to add them to their collections or create a new, cool, totally neon fleet!”
“Quercy” noted that he saw these and others already available in the backdoor alleyway of the seedy side of CARS Collecting. 🙄
FYI, The Shu shown is clearly part of this series with it’s soft green glow stickers/decals and of course, listed as part of CASE B. So, if they look like the series above – they are coming to retail.
The others of the additional non-red multiple colors of Lightning McQueen are almost certainly factory unauthorized fakes – until there is a list showing such a series, multiple colors of Lightning McQueen is pretty much a clue of fakery – as usual, oddball colors seem to be a convenient meld of access to decals and factory paint schedules of other diecasts when the factory manager is playing COD.
*The trackset sounds a they added some glow in the dark stickers to this playset … They didn’t really change the name of it – other than adding the word NEON to it … I think the kids might be on to us.
“From the exciting new generation of night racing, comes this Neon Photo Finish Track set that guarantees ’round the clock racing thrills! Set includes 1:55 Lightning McQueen in his exclusive neon deco. A cool purple raised start ramp and track launches cars into action for side by side racing. They shoot down and must face and make a daring jump then try to beat their opponent to the finish. Once there, Tokyo’s Taia Decotura, the mobile billboard advertising truck, clearly proclaims the victor in a dynamic colorful display. Labels and nightglow stickers enhance the fun of 24 hour racing thrills.”
these are on ebay now
These are cool, but enough with the repaints/special deco already!
We want new castings!
I can use exclamation points too!
2014: Year of the repaints!
The only thing that could make these better is if they could glow in the dark.
Ha! I was right!
Everyone was like, oh yea we are going to get the tuners with lights and I called it, I pretty much said they are just going to be regular cars that glow or have neon paint and stickers. BOOM! Eat it. I doubt I will be buying into this gimmick unless it is beneficial.
Finish the TRU Metallics.
Finish the Silver Series.
Honestly can’t get excited about yet another
Racer Series, that never gets finished by Mattel.
I’m kind of partial to these. I’d probably buy LMQ, but Max and Raoul look cool as well. Knowing me I’d have to get Lewis and Miguel after that…
I like them.
There is also a plastic RS Lightning McQueen included in the new TRU Flos drag strip set. (The regular version with no neon added to it.)
