Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Father Burke & His Flock of CARS
Cardinal Pitty #1 & Cardinal Pitty #2 is presumably joined by Father Burke in a Movie Moment 3-pack? Or is Father Burke considered a “deluxe” and so it’s some other 3-pack but there are no listings for those so it seems more plausible they realize the wide hat does not really make these “deluxe” and at an angle, they can fit him into a Movie Moment pack with the 2 Pitty’s.
I am proselytizing you to collect them all.
You also need the Pope & Popemobile.
So, if you’re re-creating this scene … it’s all canonical and righteous.
Though if you’re favoring this as gospel, you will need a few extra sets.
(note – while it’s labeled as “Cardinal Pitty,” I’m presuming they are really “altar boys?” – little Catholic help!)
Is Father Burke the same diecast as the Toons Padre? Maybe a repaint?
(MET: Other than the blue tint on the front – looks essentially the same).
If you look closely at the diecast, the shape of the hood top surface and the grill is slightly different than the Padre already released. I wouldn’t be surprised if the Padre tooling had long since been trashed.
I’ve since received a Father Burke, and can state it is a new sculpt, and the hat is smaller in diameter than the one on the Toons Padre. It’s a nice Car!
You mean Priest right? And they’re probably Cardinals based on their proximity to the Pope and their attire.
Our Pastor growing up was Father Burke.
I always thought those were Altar Pittys, but the red hats seem to signify Cardinals.
But wouldn’t the whole outfit be red? Cardinals are usually in red robes as well. I think they’re altar boy pitties; they usually bring in/carry/wave the incense.
(MET: I’m no expert but after the altar boys bring it in, don’t they hand it off to a priest on the altar? I’m presuming at the “Vatican,” (Cartican?) it’d be a Cardinal versus a Priest following the Pope around? Again, this is the way they are listed now – such as Maurice Wheelks was listed as RED GUY IN STANDS until release. 🙂 ).
