Mattel Explains How to Collect Mattel Disney Pixar CARS

It seems so simple …

Mattel

I has a few more questions.

When you say 1/17, do you mean there are 17 CARS in this series as I only see this one and Francesco.
I tend to only shop at Walmart, Target and Toys R Us but I do not find a lot of CARS on their pegs, should I be shopping at stores not blanketing America?

All I need is Lightning McQueen to start my collection, is there another website or graphic that explains how to continue to collect this inferno thing?

Do you hate us?

If I has 82 Lightning McQueen’s with Racing Wheels, am I an 82 level collector?

Why is the Super Chase Theme logo the eBay logo?

Can you explain how to the collect the other 110 CARS on the poster?

I understand the Smithsonian, and The Grand Canyon Visitors Center just got these in today, what time are you open?

I think blaming scalpers and eBayers is an overly simplistic answer for the lack of product. I could be one of those scalpers, except for the fact I do not collect Cars II. I stopped with Cars, The Original. I do look for a member who is on this site. I dropped my wife off at work and easily hit the stores by 8:30AM. Now, that’s Target and Wally World with some locals thrown in like Fred Meyer. Guess what! There’s nothing to buy. I look for Marvel action figures for my adult, who is a collector. As to Cars II merchandize. I live in a city of 200,000 with an extended population base, including suburbs totaling 450,000. Target and Wally World do NOT place orders to meet demand. Neither does TRU. Local managers have NO control in the ordering process. There are three antiques malls in the area and none have kiosks for Hot Wheel or Cars. I’ve eBayed my zip code and I never see any sellers in my local zip codes areas for a radius of 20-35 miles. This may not be representative of other areas, but, it sure is par for around here.

I have seen where stock clerks have cherry picked toys for their friends and relatives, but, that leaves nothing for you and me and the eBayers too!

I think realistic case assortments would solve everything.

  • Matersgrlfriend says:

    They forgot steps 1a-1j:

1a Check TFAD and various other websites multiple times a day every day in order to know what case is coming out and where its been spotted

1b Make friends with all of the employees who stock toys at every KMART, TRU, WM and Target within 100 miles of your house

1c Drive madly all over your county daily/weekly hoping to get lucky

1d Show up at your store before it opens, then race the hot wheels dudes and fleabay dudes to the toy section, then fight them off for the Rares, Chases and Super Chases

1e Make trades with fans in far off lands in order to get stuff not available in your city, state, country (make sure to collect all manner of boxes and packing materials and become an expert in USPS and international shipping rules)

1fi Attend costly conventions in order to buy exclusives (including waiting in multiple lengthy lines beginning in the wee hours of the morning, note: there may be some scuffling with other buyers/convention personnel involved); OR 1fii pay somebody to do this for you, IF you can find someone willing

1g Attend “Collector’s Events” wherein the employees running the events may or may not have any idea such event is happening in their store and if they do, may or may not adhere to the event rules intended to give everyone a fair chance to get the collectibles and again, there may be scuffling involved.

1h Resort to ebay when nothing else works

    1i Curse Mattel liberally throughout steps 1a – 1h

1j Be prepared to disappoint your children and/or grandchildren and annoy your spouse regularly

    (MET: All true).

Funny stuff Met! To think that all along there were only 2 simple steps….

It is so true. I believe their idea of completing things is to pay exorbitant secondary market price for it. They do not realize how many dissapointed people there are around the world trying to complete anything coming from Mattel. Fact, they will always not complete a years wave in many countries. So you have to import them from another country at over bloated prices. They never see how a parent has a hard time saying to their kids that they could not afford to pay the price of buying it online to complete it. Its the same with Hot Wheels. Its the same with Barbie. I live in Malaysia i also have a very hard time completing CARS and Hot Wheels because they never show up when they are supposed to every month.

So we end up buying from illegal loose sources just to complete it. They seem to love loosing business somehow. Whats wrong with letting everyone in the world complete their collection easily? Everyone is already connected through internet. And Mattel does not need to use such tactics in their idea of connecting the world through their collection. We still need to pay E-Bay, Fedex, UPS and such for delivery. The money does not go to you. Why do u make it so? Really?

    • brianmc4745 says:

I like that you brought this up and it is not mattel’s fault, the reason a lot of people will never complete their collection is because of those people who go out and buy up everything they can so that they can sell it to people like you on ebay for inflated prices. Scalpers are the problem. They kno that their is a secondary market and they exploit it. I guarantee you if you read all the comments on here their are people who are like, I bought 4 of this car or I found 5 more of this car. Dont blame mattel brother blame these greedy adult collectors.

      • Matersgrlfriend says:

I disagree Brian. Mattel certainly is to blame for this phenomenon! There would be no secondary market, no scalpers, no ebay listings if there was a) proper distribution and b) proper case packing, both of which are COMPLETELY WITHIN MATTEL’S CONTROL!

    • NascarFan says:

netmatrix: if you need barbie stuff and hotwheels, I have memberships that I rarely use for both items and use for overseas people.

NascarnbroncosfansATmsnDOTcom if you need anything. I ship to Singapore and other countries regularly anyway…

  • Mr. T says:

So awesome… Mattel offering advice on how to collect. How about how to distribute (since they are so good at that one…)

  • Jack says:

No eBay buying for me since way back in the day when I first found Take 5; if it’s out there I’ll find it!

  • MoMcQueen says:

Ah ha ha, the eBay logo! It’s funny cuz it’s true.
