Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Diecast: Snot Rod Flames & Variant
The new Snot Rod with Flames is rolling out … there is already a variant “flames,” version.
This is the opaque one that is more clear at the base of the flame.
There is another version where the “clear yellow” version starts at base and extends all the way up.
This is the production date of this opaque one, if you have a “clear yellow,” one – is it earlier or later? I checked on eBay – not scientific as I did NOT look at every detail of every auction but of the @65 auctions for Snot Rod with Flames that showed up in my search, about 10 were opaque and the rest were clear so it’s unknown if this ratio is simply malformed now as most of the country hasn’t gotten them yet or will this ratio hold? So, chime in below to see if the ratio of about 6 to 1 holds?
Of course, the one on card I have is closer to 50-50 versus the one I opened which is closer to 65-35 … so … er, collect ’em all!
3/4 of the way to a complete Radiator Springs Tuners with Flames set!
Now, we just need Kabuto with Flames released.
And if you want to argue canonnocity of what color his flames should be, let the words start a-flying! 🙂 (no fists of fury, just words).

Clear yellow. Bought it yesterday at the new target downtown Seattle wa along with zed the plane, body shop Ramones and victor paveone.
I had never seen any of them.
They had a bunch of cars and planes.
So nice to be here on vacation because our tiny town in co hasn’t had anything in months for cars.
I also saw a new wheelies car set today at tru and a new planes drifter big play set.
I think I have the clear yellow. It is opaque from the top to the bottom with no gradient.
The date code is: 1473 EAA
Hm, looks like they were going for some kind of opacity gradient and it went more on or off than they planned.
(MET: So far, it looks like the first ones were opaque and then I guess after they passed inspection, they decided to save on the paint on newer shipments. 🙂 ).
Kabuto…Boost..same thing.
Clear Flames. all 4 later than your 0513 date.
2 are 0883
2 are 1533
on the base.
Found at Toys R Us. Have not found the opaque ones yet.
Clear yellow i have is 1473 EAA
As much as it pains me, my boy has been known to bite the blower off Snot Rod. So, these tuners give me pause. How sturdy are the flames on Snot Rod once they’re attached at the base?
One comes pre-attached. I gave that one a good pull and it didn’t come off. The other one you need to attach and it comes off pretty easily if you try to take it off.
