Star Wars Next: Star Wars Rebels Animated Series
Coming in 2014 …
The new series takes place between the events of the final movie prequel, Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith, and the first Star Wars film in 1977, subtitled A New Hope.
During those two decades, never featured on screen as of yet, the Empire is expanding its hold on the galaxy and hunting down Jedi while a fledgling Rebel Alliance emerges to combat Emperor Palpatine and his forces. So iconic characters such as Darth Vader, Princess Leia and Han Solo could conceivably make their animated debuts in Rebels.

Sounds like it will be a nice new Star Wars animated adventure to get people geared up for the next trilogy. But, it also concerns me that someone from Mattel must have infiltrated Lucasfilm and has left the fate of Star Wars the Clone Wars animated series hanging in the balance (much like the many unfinished lines of Cars). Cartoon Network wanted to purchase another season (and why not!? it was one of their top shows for five seasons) but they piggybacked this with the news that it would not be returning to CN for another season. Obviously Disney wants to have the show finish up on one of its channels (or in some butchered up webisode form …sniff..) but has forgotten where it (SW/CW) got its start and how much of a fan following they have there. I really do hope that they complete the storylines they started and give fans of the series some kind of finish but all that keeps ringing in my head is the pitiful cry of Anakin as he becomes Vader …Nooooooooo!
