PLANES the movie won’t be in theaters until August 9, 2013 but it looks like you can read the entire story including the PLANES Movie Junior Novelization in early July. It’s 128 pages long! That’s a lot of plot – who knew?! Or the print is really, really large.

There are about 40 books already listed! Collect them all? 🙂

Of course, the DK Publishing Essential Guide will be out (no cover photo yet). Like the ones for each CARS movie, it will feature the main characters (not the diecasts but the screen characters).

As I was scrolling through, I noticed this listing – so like CARS was preceded by Susie the Blue Coupe, Pedro is Disney’s PLANES old school founding father. If I’ve seen this short (IMDB link) before, I have no recollection of it. I’m not sure it’s worth $60 but if you have one on the shelf – score!

It’s pretty darn cute. It’s got it all from cartoons of that era (1942) – great music, humor, thrills, and scary scenes but it’s definitely Disney old school great – PLANES has got a tough predecessor to match now.

If you like the short enough to want to own it on DVD, it’s available on these Disney DVD Shorts Collections, Walt Disney, It’s a Small World of Fun or Saludos Amigos (Disney Gold Classic Collection).

If you just want the Pedro story, this collection of Disney Classic Tales is a much better deal.

Clearly I would fail a Disney trivia quiz as I’ve never heard of him but you can even buy a snowglobe of Pedro.

There is a PLANES sticker book coming but if you or your kids like literally 1,000 stickers, can’t beat this book – though some of the stickers are repeats – you don’t get a 1,000 different stickers.
