Mattel is All In On Dreamworks Turbo Es Car Go – the Snail Race Car Film
Mattel certainly believes that Dreamworks: Turbo-Es Car Go will be a massive merchandising hit …
Head of DW Animation says, (Jeff) “Katzenberg also noted that Turbo, which hits theaters July 19, has the most potential of any film DWA has ever released in terms of consumer products potential (the story follows a snail who acquires superhero strength in terms of speed).”
DW has filed trademarks for: 025 – SHIRTS AND TOPS, DRESSES, SKIRTS, PANTS, TROUSERS, JEANS, SHORTS, ROMPERS, OVERALLS, SWEATSHIRTS AND SWEAT PANTS, SWEATSUITS, CAPS AND HATS, GLOVES, SUSPENDERS, TIES, COATS AND JACKETS, HOSIERY, SHOES, BOOTS, SLIPPERS, PAJAMAS, ROBES, SLEEPSHIRTS, SLEEPWEAR, UNDERWEAR, HALLOWEEN COSTUMES, AND CLOTH BABY BIBS.
And in case you curious about how to describe a logo for trademarking, here ya go …
Design Description:
The color(s) black and red is/are claimed as a feature of the mark.
The mark consists of the image of a boy sitting and fishing on the moon to the left of the word “DREAMWORKS”. The image of the boy on the moon and the word “DREAMWORKS” are centered above the word “TURBO”, created by the letters “T”, “U”, “R”, “B” and a spiral design that forms both the letter “O” and the shell design for the body of the snail, and the body of the snail. The smaller words “S CAR GO” are below the word “TURBO”. The color black appears in the design of the boy sitting and fishing on the moon, in the word “DREAMWORKS”, in the letters “T”, “U”, “R” and “B”, as shading in the spiral design that forms both the letter “O” and the shell design for the body of the snail, and in the body of the snail, all of which combined spell the word “TURBO”; the color red appears as shading behind the letters “T”, “U”, “R” and “B”, in the letter “O” and spiral shell design above the body of the snail, and in the words “S CAR GO”.
I guess Mattel figures they can sell any diecasts even if it’s a spoiler attached to a snail? is there interest/demand for snail-based diecasts? Are you psyched? are you super psyched?
Well, you better be. Mattel is rolling out: 2-packs, 5-pack Movie Moments, Turbo Stunts playsets, Transforming Taco Truck Playset (the plot involves a Taco Truck driver finding him and making him magically fast … maybe it just sounds stupid when I’m saying it …), Turbo Shell Speedway Track set, Rip Stick launchers, Nite Glo Vehicles, Light Up & Go Vehicles, Launchers, Chevrolet Camaro Launcher, Tuck ‘n Roll 4-pack, “basics” 8-pack and Chevrolet Camaro Ripstick …
Er, is Turbo-Es Car Go really “CARS 3?” diecast sales wise?
Collect them all?

Will this affect the numbers of CARS product this May through summer?
Turbo Toys coming May 2013.

BTW, next summer will be a CRAZY movie year … Iron Man 3, Star Trek 2, Fast Six (Fast & Furious), Hangover 3, Leafmen (Ice Age/Rio creators), Long Ranger, After Earth (Wil Smith), Man of Steel, World War Z, Monsters University, Wolverine, Robopocalypse (Spielberg), Despicable Me 2, Pacific Rim, Turbo, Jurassic Park 3D, Smurfs 2, Red 2, 300-Battle Of Artemisia, RoboCop, Sin City 2, Phineas And Ferb & Evil Dead (reboot).
I’m sorry, but if this catches on, I’ll be disappointed…
BIG pass
Turbo slimers?
mattel can’t even properly product the cars line without irratating collectors
Not psyched at all. This is going to just be one of those typical movies where the main character thinks he can’t do it but then he achieves his goal and probably gets some form of prize in the end for achieving it.. Unless something amazing happens and the movie does turn out to be a success I can see this as one of those toy lines that last until maybe Christmas 2013..
Definitely not collecting these.
Snails? Really?
Planes? Summer 2013 ???
They sure are sinking a lot of money into this project. All-star voice cast. Also, they are already working on a TV series before the movie is even out. I hope it pays off for them; but it sure doesn’t sound very interesting.
I’m sure snail toys will be as popular as Ratatouille’s rat toys a few years ago. And after the record sales of Francesco Betnoulli toys, America is more than ready for those open-wheeled racecars pictured above.
