He was a long time coming … it’s presumed he is the missing #36 CAR from CARS 2: Porto Cosa cards – reserved for him but never released on that card.
It’s also presumed he was added last as comic-relief – he’s from a fictional country so you can make fun of him without upsetting anyone (all other racers are from real countries) but ultimately, not much was done with him as the story already ran long. Which explains his late arrival as all the production and characters were scheduled.
Now that he’s finally done, will we ever see him as a rubber tire version? As a chrome version to finally complete the Kmart CARS 2 racers?
While unlikely, who knows – maybe we will even get a unibody version?
He’s not a CHASE but there’s only one in the case (and not scheduled in the next few cases) – will he appear in another packaging soon? A 2-pack perhaps with another racer? Since there are 2 or 3 of the racers not scheduled as singles? A box set? (the 11-pack double launcher box has disappeared – Mattel will probably try again for 2013 holidays).
At least he’s out and actually at retail stores.

Today was my lucky day !! BEST MOM EVER :-).
I’ve been going to every Target, WalMart and any other place that sells Cars for the past 10 days (since I’ve started coming across the new packaging). Well, I’ve always been too late to get a Rip in my hands ! Today was my day —- I found one ! Aiden is going to be SO thrilled after school – I can’t wait 🙂
I secretly want to go pull him out of school to give it to him 🙂
I concur with “Best Mom Ever”. Today was definitely my luckiest and best Cars 2 shopping day (excluding KMart Cars Days). After a year of being depressed with seeing nothing but Finns and Race Team Maters, I hit the jackpot today. Because of lighter than usual traffic, I hit the Woburn, MA Target. Wow! New cardbacks! Cars I needed! Was able to get two items off my son’s Christmas List -Burnt Autonaut LM and Don Crumlin. Then I loaded up-Holly with Screen, Gremlin with Weapon, Petey Pacer, Erik Lanely. All for $1.99, too! Also got some guy named Rip! He was incredibly disappointed at the last Cars Day when there was no “Silver Rip” (It had been listed on some early previews) so he will be super excited to get this from Santa!
I’ve been super-lucky – I have found 3 in my local stores (2 at Walmart and one at Target) at under $4! And, unfortunately, also won an auction on Ebay for 5 times the price…but, Rip was the ONLY thing my son asked Santa for, so I was a bit desperate. Now, I have 3 to put away for the future and he’ll get one to play with! Still searching for J. Curby, but I found the Grail…
Still no WM dump bin…and toy manager has she knows nothing about it…apparently this is NOT a corporate wide thing? That, and she scanned a CASE B Cactus LM and it came back “non-replenishable”!!! What is up with that? The singles have also been reduced to 5 pegs!!

Yep…our toy section is located right next to it…nothing. I even did the action aisle (WM speak) tours around the building to no avail. My only hope is that it is still coming. This is the same WM to took a couple extra days to display the May 2011 cases. But…that hope is decreasting in direct proportion to the days. And combined with the fact that at least last Friday night, all of the Fargo ND WMs were in the same situation, it leads me to question if some stores “missed” this drop…?

Sadly this is true for Case A and Case B. I had a trusted Wal-mart associate scan a UPC from Case A (Chick Hicks) and one from Case B (Cactus Mcqueen too – go figure!) and they both come up as non-replenishable, deleted, disc etc. I think Wal-mart may have commited to so many (a set number of) cases of case A and case B and that is what was sent to their DCs and out to the stores. BUT – did the associate give you the on-hand counts? My store had zero on the shelf and the 4 cases (96 units) still in the garden center and not even put out yet. Eventually they found them and put some on the shelf but no bins. As with a lot of the christmas toy inventory the items have not even been binned yet (not put into backroom inventory locations) not to be confused with the red bins we’re all so excited about. Have them check this UPC and I would be almost positive your store has 96/4 cases if they don’t lie to you that nis…. Chick Hicks 74677523995(4) – does not start with a zero. Second option – go to a Target & go to electronics have them use the store look-up for DCPI 087-071-962 and they can print out a receipt with the inventory counts at local targets usually within 75 miles. Go to the store with the highest count and ask them to pull a case, again – I would almost be sure that you will get a new one.It may not be “B” but it will get you that much closer to finding RIP. Good luck in the hunt.
I found him this morning at Target along with the rest of the case. They must have just put it out and was lucky enough to find him! They look great!!!

Spent over 8 hours driving around this city to find Rips only to find them one afternoon at my home Target.
“actually at retail” eh? Ha ha. I’ve been beat to him at 14 out of 14 stores. Not funny. Cool car. Too bad he came out so late.
My sons most wanted car for over a year now. He was heartbroken when Rip didn’t show up with the 2nd set of KMart cars. Just hoping I can find him for Christmas (found every other car from Case A and B so far).
I have found Case B cars in 5 different locations so far and somebody has beaten me to Rip Clutchgonski each time.
Jealous! Haven’t been able to find one yet.
