Oogieloves Do Not Get Much Love
The Oogieloves — Goobie, Zoozie and Toofie — set out to find five magical balloons that will make their good friend Schluufy’s surprise birthday party.
The movie is one of the biggest bombs ever.
BoxOfficeGuru reports, “Finding no takers this weekend was the new kidpic The Oogieloves which debuted outside the Top 20 with a pitiful $610,057 over four days. The G-rated film for pre-schoolers averaged a dismal $282 from 2,160 theaters which averaged out to about three tickets sold per showtime.”
Spoiler Alert: Washington Post reviewer spills the beans.
I remember seeing the preview for this before I saw ‘Brave’ this summer, and all I could think was, “…um, that can’t be real. It has to be a gag commercial.”
They should have led off with a TV show first. How did they think anyone would come see this when nobody knows who or what they are. I also think parents are getting burnt out on the Barney/Teletubbie era. Plus these things are creepy looking.
That’s weird, it looks like a great movie and the marketing was so pervasive!
