Disney Pixar CARS Toons: My Huckleberry Friend … Moon Mater
The Disney Store “Mater on the Moon” is a blast …
Even the box makes a nice display …
And the back …
As usual, the Disney Store CARS are solid and heavy diecast …
Nice details and detailing …
Autonaut Mater has the slight bend to capture the detail of his landing … and it even looks like the helmet latch is a real element (helmet not removeable).
And the Impala – so far not announced in the Mattel 1:55 CARS Take Flight series …
Again, nice touch and details on thered latch ….
The classic Impala of the late 1960’s/early 1970’s with the miles and miles of the bench seats – the other door is so far away, you actually see the perspective effect of the other doors and windows like a tunnel. 🙂
Compared to Mattel’s 1:55?
It’s like McQueen is sending Junior to Space Camp.
Space travel will shrink your bones …
Looks authentic moon rocky …
Cars Toon Mater on the Moon Die Cast Set
Come back tomorrow for the Disney Stores Air Mater Giveaway Contest!
I do not have any of these cars from Mattel or DS.
Anyone who really likes this set should also check out the DS Mater Private Eye set. Canon to the old (old) detective movies, this set is in black and white and grey; Mater decked in white with a classic grey fedora, Lt. McQueen as the inveterate beat cop and “Big D”, the villain very reminiscent of a black and grey 1930 Deusenberg.
Now nearly speechless, I can only add it’s a nicely executed “Artist”ic set !
I never tought I’d say this but…I like the face on the DS mater more then the mattel one.
agreed.
I think the Mattel Mater is just jealous that the DS Mater is more detailed.
I sure hope Mattel (a.k.a. my abusive significant other in this partnership) makes Impala 13, he is one of my favorite characters.
I love Impala XIII…my favorite Cars pun and a very nice sculpt from Disney. I got this set just for him, even though the expression is a bit plain and non-canon (he was entertainingly gruff in the short). My grandfather drove an Impala around this time, and it brings back nice memories…it was definitely “wider than a mile,” to build on Met’s fun-with-movie-themes (I’ll have that one in my head all day!).
It’s very kind of Disney to always let local Kindergarten kids paint the eyes on its vehicles.
That’s one small drive for a car; one giant leap for automotive !
