Not sure why but I just don’t trust Car’s from another country. I see plenty of these on eBay selling for $60+, not sure why I doubt how real they are but when people have 8-10 to sell it makes me wonder.
(MET: The evidence seems to be that the factory backdoor sellers have access to the diecast production but NOT to packaging so if it’s early and WITHOUT packaging, then you can be more wary … but in packaging, an occasion case will ship out early … based on pricing, you probably want to wait until regular shipping occurs and pricing stabilizes).
Case H with the Chinese racer will be coming soon as well. Prince William or however they spell his name is going to be a valuable one too. Most Cars collectors are going to want a full set of the Super chase Racers. Should be real fun if these super chases start coming to retail stores. Finding one will make the hunt worth it.
Prince Wheeliam is the spelling.
I keep wondering if they’ll do a Prince Charles with his doors left open to symbolize his big ears.
Mattel would also make a fortune with a Lady Diana tribute car.
Lady Diana? These aren’t Beanie babies π
got a feeling these ultimate chases will be extremley collectable and hard to find in a few years, esp the one with either miquels or jeff gorvette body shape. with a little help from a new friend in the US i hope to get them all.
Does anyone know if they have english versions of the cards? Im mean Bilar 2 is interesting, but I Still perfer Cars 2 π
(MET: It seems pretty likely the language thing is part of their plan on these cards & CARS).
Believe it or not, they speak Swedish in Sweden, NOT English. :=) So if this car is part of the Swedish version and the racer is a Swede, well, logic concludes that they would use the Swedish translation “Bilar 2” (Cars 2). :=) It adds to the authenticity.
I am only sorry the Finnish version hasn’t included Mika HΓ€kkinen.
Well, we got one. Paid a lot for it, but monsieur tiny (my 3 year old) wanted it, so we had to get it. :=)
Now weβre waiting that it arrives. In our case, it will be out of the box in about a second..and a couple of days later it will have permanent scratches. But no big deal, it’s meant to be played with.
has anyone found any spares?
So now that its ahem – open – what does the paint look like? A review perhaps coming?
(MET: Haven’t gotten mine yet but yes, I will open mine. π ).
That’s so cool that you opened it, Nikko. Right on!
Well we already know hundreds of cases if not more already have been shipped to resellers. So with over 5,000 large retail stores in the country if every store were to average a case each then we know for sure Mattel made more than they are saying.
Bilar 2, I love it. Here’s to hoping to find one on the pegs!
Get the card on Ebay quick! π
Way to go, Nikko… I am not opening the one I have until I find another one, and even then, I’m not sure I can bring myself to do so.
Great photos…
He sure looks happy to be free of his plastic coffin!
Ahem, only 3,999 left,Met!
Or so Mattel says … but can they REALLY be trusted?? lol
jeff< before now mattel never released an number to give an idea of how many are produced, just a percentage that meant nothing and was as clear as mud if your were trying to work out numbers released, NOW! with the fiqure of 4000 at most surely theres laws that will make them stick to that number or less? on another note (good news)! i went into one of my tesco stores and as i always check the top shelves that hold stock i noticed a blank box with cars2 written in pen on the box, after taking it down i opened it to find 30-40 finns and maters that had been removed from shelves and the shelves had at least mre upto date cars and even more important no finns or maters on shelf< now if only more managers and staff would do this the new cars would start flooding in.
