Disney California Adventures CARS Land: Crowded & Beautiful

Surprise, CARS Land is already a hit!

Beautiful pics via Nikko who I think has been there 3 times already. 🙂

I’d like some neon like this.

The Mercury News reports …

The wait for Radiator Springs Racers — the ride inspired by the Pixar film “Cars” — reached seven hours at one point; a Disneyland employee said Friday the wait peaked at nine hours. A company spokesman said the wait was likely aggravated by the fact that workers had to shut down the ride a few times for technical adjustments; one stop was an hour long. In comparison, the wait for Radiator Springs, pitting two race cars against each other in a race through the desert and mountains above Radiator Springs, was about two hours and 15 minutes just after noon on Tuesday. The other two new Cars Land rides — Luigi’s Flying Tires and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree — peaked at around three hours on Friday.

Holy snickey!

BTW, the town is accurate, the shops in between are all there … since they don’t have rides, they’re not featured on the website but they are there.

Good luck fitting these souvenir cups into your carry-on.

Thanks for the great pics, Nikko.

Looks amazing, can’t imagine how cool it would be for a kid to experience an exact real-life replica of this!
$7 for a “pale ale india pale ale” isn’t too terribly bad…

Nikko, is there a package where you can just pay a minimal fee to walk through and take pictures, skipping all the rides?

    • PCC says:

I’m not Nikko, but the answer is no. The option to just buy an admission ticket without rides went away when they stopped selling individual ride tickets in 1982.

I still want to know why Flo’s gas pumps say Tulsa Tea instead of Texas Tea!

2 and 3 hour waits for a ride, that’s ludicrous. There is no way I would do that for any ride. You have to go to places like this on a weekday after its been open for awhile and the weather isn’t great. Otherwise most of your day is spent waiting in lines. Not my idea of a good time.

We went to Disney world in April ( during the week) and lines for rides were still several hours long (3 hours for the toy story ride, 4 hours for Peter pan, 2 for the goofy ride) I think the least amount of time we waited for any ride was 30 minutes and these are rides that have been open for years (except goofy that was new). I imagine cars land will be like that for years to come especially since Orlando doesn’t have cars land yet (I’m keeping my fingers crossed we will soon) so some people are going out of their way to go to DL when they would typically go to DW.

I heard April was supposed to be one of the busiest times of the year due to Spring Break. I think the shortest wait times are supposed to be during the late winter and school months like March and Oct.

(MET: When I lived in LA, the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving were nice).

$2.79 for bottled water — welcome to the world that is Disney!

Met, if you watch the movie again, you’ll see that there are several shops missing in Cars Land between the Courthouse and Luigi’s & Ramone’s.
