Kmart CARS Event In-Store Day: When Will Stores Know?
Many people have reported that calling and asking their local Kmart store about their particpation in the next Kmart CARS Event Day (June 16, 2012 – 9 AM) actually ends up with them feeling less informed than they started with.
Just be patient – wait a few more days before calling back. They will need to get the memo, the giant sign and/or the CARS to arrive before they commit to giving out any info. But note, the stores that have responded have confirmed the 9 AM start time though of course, it would not stun me if on the 16th, some stores insisted on starting at 11 AM.
This is actually pretty much business as usual.
Kmart has some other problems to deal with …
Such as a clearance that is not in the system but now you must know to tell the cashier. Or know you must now cashier to tell.
Hopefully the register is in better English/binary working order … though technically our numbering system is Hindu-Arabic (you can try that tidbit fact out on your Kmart cashier – hilarity will ensue).
Or as John in MO discovered, you can’t even price match at the same Kmart.
Collect them all.
But it’s good to know that Kmart still carries products with labels literally designed in 1949 … or maybe it’s just been on the shelf that long.
So, if you’ve been in a coma or traveled from 60 years ago, you can still have a tasty snack from Prairie Belt as you remembered exactly from whence you came.
And remember it’s 1949, no snarky jokes or comments jokes about smoked or sausages – mainly because the internet hasn’t been invented yet. But if you type it on an index card with your Remington, put it in an envelope with a $.03 first class stamp, we will post it in the December issue.

I contacted Kmart and sent Met and BMW an update on pre sales day and they should be doing a post on it soon,

My local Kmart still hasn’t idea what I’m talking about when I ask about the Cars event. However, I was in there this evening and my crappy morning turned to a fantastic evening. All the Metallics, Celine Dephare and Acer with Torch were on the shelves. It was like I was 5 all over again.
I called a couple of Kmart stores here in Colorado. Both stores said they were having the event and that it started at 9:00 A.M. It took them a long time to find out. One store even said that they had the car cases for the event.
Whenever Met runs the Prairie Belt pic I think of the scene in Sling Blade where Carl is eating a can of potted meat.

We spent countless hours and countless emails with people. We did it because we love the Cars, and tried our best to help straighten out the mess, and cell phone calls to Kmart on our own nickels so others could get their orders. Has the fat lady sung yet?
Bmw, I am ready to ask you:
Where and who do I give my “Shop Keys” too.
I will just leave them on the table, get the lights Barbara and lock the door huh?

Funny stuff, Met. I’m spooked a little about this Cars day, though. As always, with KMart, and Cars hunting in general, I will plan for the worst and hope for the best.
Ever since the shakeup at Kmart and or beloved insiders, it has gone to H*** in a hand basket.
Bad customer service during the event, (when Hotwheels asks everyone to take their cameras and stores will not allow it and then getting threating looks, verbal abuse.
One store or should I say Stores even had confrontations last year with managers.

Dev M left Kmart in March. He really reached out to us.
Lots of the good folks have fled that we knew who helped us out willingly and tirelessly when the case assortments were messed up, or with shipping problems.
The people still there won’t or can’t share information.
Sam Walton studied Kmart and emulated this chain store when he started Walmart. We all know what happened. Walmart won with an even better business model and expansion into small towns, eventually to the big cities. All 17 Kmarts in my city closed in 2003 after a 40 year run. Better run Targets and Walmart’s expansion plans left Kmart unable to compete.
How much and how many times did we stick by them and funnel the people into customers services when things got messed up on Kmart Days case sales?
How many hours were spent babysitting the computer before the links went live?
How many people were on “call at anytime lists” when the link went live?
How many cases have been bought and sold for overseas people?
How many hours have YOU and I Bmw spent defending Kmart and their “shouldbe upgrades”
How many times did I stick by them and say: I will forward your issues to the appropriate people?

I actually thought at two points, once at SDCC for dinner, that I was going to be “in the door finally and get this cars online ordering nailed down and DONE RIGHT.
You order Paul Valdez and GET Paul Valdez.
Trips to a fulfillment center (9 hours drive one way to Wyoming) and going over paperwork with the “backroom” and getting in the loop, showing what needed to be done to “fix it”
USE UPC’s and upgrade to a “point to point” ordering system…..so someone ordering Paul Valdez didnt get heart medication.
Oh well……

Opening hundreds of cases, ALL of us TFAD people including the 80-90 some I bought on one fo the kmart days and making sure all the cases were correct…

Quakertown PA and Doylestown PA Kmarts have no idea about the event right now.
i have seen signs with clearance spelled CLARENCE at kmart. i’m sure some of the shoppers see these misspellings and don’t even realize it’s wrong.
Cashier must NOW it’s 50% off before they ring it up??? Wow, K-Mart can’t even spell.
