It doesn’t sound like much but it’s strangely compelling and even a little melancholy – travel with a NASA Space Shuttle rocket booster up to space and back to Earth.
I can still remember my Dad and I watching the very first Shuttle launch on TV in 1980 or 1981. To us, the most amazing part was the moment after liftoff when it made the gentle rotation as it left the launchpad.
I’m sure the astronauts would describe lift off as anything other than “gentle” ;-0
It is sad to see our civilian public space program pretty much cease. Most kids now a days probably couldn’t give a hoot for space travel.

Look at those speed numbers! What a ride!
