Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS 2: New Gremlin Coming – J. Curby …

I hope that the release version of J. Curby Gremlin keeps all the nice attention to details. I think this is nicer than the real AMC Gremlin’s. 🙂

And look, he’s even ready for a being a lenticular. 🙂

Though in comparing him to the J. Curby Gremlin section and a blurb in the new MEET THE CARS book … the stripe, eyes and rims are not the same so either it’s a facsimile of J. Curby or there’s another purple Gremlin.

It is too bad that it isnot J Curby Gremlin. Oh well now he is Don Crumlin. And i’ll collect him with the rest.

I don’t think this is J. Curby Gremlin’s diecast, because I’ve seen this on eBay & Amazon now & it has the name Russ Gremlin, so I think we’re still awaiting J. Curby’s diecast.

John, I second your thoughts on Pinto’s. My mother-in-law still has a 1976 Pinto (white with blue stripes) parked in her garage. It has nice weeds growing up through the engine! Probably has vermin living in the seats! 🙂

Love the Lemons. Bring ’em on.

I am really excited for J Curby Gremlin car! This is one from the movie right?

Edit. Nevermind he was in the movie.

    Long….Live….LEMONS!!!!!!!!

More bad guys!! Bring ’em ON!!!!! I would like to start a petition for a bad guy 10 pack ….. do I here a second???? lol

  • John says:

Looking forward to as many different Gremlins, Pacers and other villian cars as possible. My kids definitely prefer the bad guys; we already have at least five each Grem and Acer in the fleet.

I hope the production J. Curby matches the movie version as it will give us some hope that they get the Gremlin bodied Rod Torque Redline color striped correctly. Still hoping Mattel will do a Holley Shiftwell with wings with a tail as Disney Store has done in smaller and larger scales.

I hate those ‘boxed-in eyes.’ In the olden days, there wasn’t any need for swap-out eyes. You really could have the character’s eyse go almost all the way out to the door-frames, like the original Lightning.

I continue to be amazed that a Ford Pinto wasn’t in the movie as a Lemon. Then again, Ford Motor Company probably poo-pooed the idea, lest Pixar lose all their licensing rights on Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury vehicles.

    • Tom says:

Exactly, you don’t see any major manufactures represented in the lemon families. I mean if they wanted to be honest, 70’s-90’s Jags are pretty rubbish. They did hit the nail on the head with Axelrod though. Those old Land Rover Disco IIs are complete schrott, truly the king of all lemons! Apparently Fiat/Chrysler had no qualms about making a few bucks allowing the Pacer/Gremlin/Yugo look bad (they are all the same family of companies nowadays).
BTW, Pintos were actually pretty sweet cars, they just got a bad rap as a result of media hype, IMO.
I liked how all the British cop Cars were Fords.

      • Micky says:

I have to agree about the Pinto. I had the last model made in the early 80’s. It was a really nice car. Never had a problem with it. Traded it in after a few years, not ’cause I had a problem but ’cause I needed a bigger car.

My high school’s colors were purple and white… I always like purple… I graduated from high school in the late 1970s… I liked the Gremlin… always wanted one.

This purple Gremlin definitely takes me on a trip down memory lane… Can’t wait to add it to my collection.

  • Mike Manifold says:

    What a creep! …that I must have…

  • DDD says:

Ready!! BTW, speaking of new cars, there are $2-off coupons turning up on the 2-packs at Walmart, and they list a “Sheriff/Deputy” set…did we resolve who the “deputy” is?? (Leland and Mama packs are not listed, so apparently this set is due before them.)

  • Fillmore1234 says:

Is this considered a 2012 release or a 2011? Considering there are pictures popping up in 2011 and Mattel said that 98 different Cars were made in 2011 and I can’t seem to get all 98 of them.

  • Tom says:

Can’t wait for him to come out! “J. Curby Gremlin, from Detroit”, I’m sure it’s no coincidence he is purple to pay homage to the Purple Gang of Detroit from the ’20s & 30’s. They were some bad dudes. I just can’t figure out why in the movie they have bad fake New York accents. Who ever at Pixar thought that up didn’t do any research. People from Detroit don’t talk like that.

  • sidewall74shine says:

This is probably just another purple gremlin. If this is J. Curby, I hope this is just a pre production version. For example the production Leland is different from the prototype. So no, I don’t think it’s J. Curby for reasons staed above, plus the color looks off to me. This ones color looks blue with a small splash of purple to me. Also, I’d expect him to have an expression he had in the movie, not like this. I still want it. I also hope they release Tubbs Pacer, and a J. curvy with brown eyes, a gold stripe, silver rims, the right color, and a face like in the movie. Can’t wait to get this.
