I just wonder how much they lost by staggering the release dates by so much.
Myself and a few friends “borrowed” it from the internet video library well before it got its UK release and while my son made it to the cinema I know my friends kids did not and I wonder how many other UK families did this.
I dont think its a bad film and actually gets better the more times you watch it as you catch little bits you have missed before but its not as good as Cars IMHO.
Still can’t hide the fact that Cars 2 was Pixars second lowest (A Bugs Life) domestic film in terms of box office. If you take higher ticket prices and the awful 3D surcharge into account, Cars 2 is easily the worst Pixar movie in terms of U.S. dollars. Good thing for the gluttony of product tie-ins. I stopped collecting after the first Cars and after seeing these new releases, I’m happy with that. My kids and I will always love Cars but the franchise has de-railed badly.
Seems kind of weird that Part 2 would gross so much more than Part 1. I realize the final movie is bringing back EVERYONE to see the end, but shouldn’t they know a little about Part 1?
That’s a lot of money… I just wonder how much more these movies would have made had tickets been more reasonably priced and more people would have bought tickets… It cost $50 for tickets for my 3 grandchildren, my wife, and I to see Cars2… we’ve not been back… and that’s the only movie on the top 10 that I’ve seen.
I just wonder how much more “Cars 2” would have made had it been a better movie. We saw the original “Cars” five times in the theater, and it was worth every penny I spent. The only reason we saw “Cars 2” twice was that I purchased tickets early for not only the first showing, but the showing right after that one. If not for buying tickets early, we would have only seen it once it was so bad.
I have to say that I am pretty surprised by how much you guys are attacking “Cars 2”.
It wasn’t even close to as bad as you are making it out to be.
I know people who actually thought it was better than “Cars”
And box office means absolutely nothing, as far as quality goes.
“Transformers” movies are not only much much worse than “Cars 2”, they are some of the worst movies ever made.
To me, “Cars” is like The Beatles album “A Hard Day’s Night” — fun, crisp, and clean. A true classic.
However, “Cars 2” is like going straight to “Let It Be” but without the progression of all the other albums in between.

I’m surprised “Rango” didn’t make the list.
John…I have to say…that movie was dreadful…top notch animation though
I love how the 2 HP gross over 2 billion…they didn’t even follow the books that well…
What a franchise!

That is odd..but I’ll admit I saw part 2 twice…it’s way better than part 1
Ahh, that might explain it!
Cars 2 and Transformers 3 are the only ones I have seen on the list. The rest I can wait for DVD to catch.
