Opened the fan stand today. Kids really dig it. I wish the flag stand could hold a regular sized car, tho. I know dexter wasn’t in cars 2 (or was he and I missed him?) But still…
Oh, how big of a car fits in the flag spot? A model railroading saw and sand paper may take care of it.
A pity?!?!? The whole front row only fits pity/guido/luigi/professor, which I was expecting, just overlooked the flag. ah ha! Now I see guido waving the flag on the box pic. An even closer look shows u. Toplino resting on his bumper.
Good idea on the the modification. You would actually need to remove the side rails and leave the front guardrail so the flag person doesn’t roll off. Easy fix with a dremel tool. Or just balance dexter’s wheels ever-so-carefully on the rails for the much easier fix.
Oh, I see. The funny thing about Mattel’s stock advertisement photo for this stand, is that they actually have Dexter Hoover in the stand – but in the back rows! He lost his job to Guido, poor Dexter H.. First the shameful trading forum scandal, the Final Lap white flag ommission (big dis), and now this. 🙂
I am curious to know which advertisements are included on the track wall, aside from Nitroade and Towkyo. Does it include “Lug Nuts In A Cup” or “Fast”? Or maybe these are sponsors not carried over from the Tokyo Mater version of Tokyo to the Cars 2 version of Tokyo.
I was looking forward to this case, as the ONLY one I was going to pursue, but I’m not sure I want to spend $50 on something that needs modified. I guess I’m “on the fence” on the stands.
The good news is that it’s only $40 at kmart. Bad news is they even stripped dexter’s flag from him in the photo! (Good eye, mike). And they seperated mia & tia, they look so sad. I see little fred up in the front row. Could you imagine how excited he would be for the chance to wave the flag? He would probably lose his back bumper over that!
I didn’t see the nuts or fast ad. But what I did find interesting was an ad for dinoco, right next to allinol, with a geisha girl as a model…
Heh heh – Fred sure would lose his back bumper! Thanks for the scoop on the advertisements, that’s one of my favorite themes in Cars world art.

I made a generic “area shopping report” topic in the forums. It would be nice to have a direct link to something like that on the home page (hint hint, met!). Although I still prefer the reply tree of the original format.
I found the Fan Stand and the Playtown at 1 of 6 Dayton (Ohio) area Kmart stores today… I bought 1 Fan Stand but left the Playtown… $52.99 plus tax is just too much money.
There are 3 KMarts within a reasonable driving distance of my house. All three have pitiful toy sections. I don’t have much hope of ever finding any of the exclusives or these cases or anything else for that matter 🙁

The fan stand is actually given out for free as a gift if you purchased 5 single pack at TRU in Hong Kong. Single pack in HK cost hkd$70 (~usd$9!!!) each though…
I!ve seen the movie about 5 times now and try to analyse,i am very confused about the starting grid.
When they start out in the first race you can count 10 Cars,but during the race I counted 11 cars at several moments.
What is the story on this Mc Clutsky(I think)red and green formula looking car??
When McQueen is introduced by Axl rod and they show the other racers there are also 10 other cars.
Almost got all crewchiefs figured out besides the known:Raoul has an old Citroen crewchief,Shu todoroki has I believe A dalmatier looking old Nissan or Datsun,Nigel Gearsley’s crawchief is A classic mini and Miguel’s looks like A Seat+John Lassetire truck for Jeff Corvette,An alfa Romeo for Francesco,the Volkswagen Beetle for Carla.
Not yet sure about the crewchiefs of Max Schnell,Lewis Hamilton and the mystery 11th car.
Ramone only has 3 different paintjobs:Light green in the beginning,Union Jack English pattern in Londen and 2 color look.
The 11th racer is Rip Cluthgoneski. He is a F6000 racing car. His country is Republic of New Rearendia and his top speed is 240mph. Actually only Jeff Gorvette and Shu Todoroki have a higher top speed (250mph). I found these information from Disney PIXAR CARS 2 “The essential guide” book. A very well done 48 pages book.

Did you get in? I think you just use your regular id and password to log in to T5AD as usual, then click on the Forum – I think.
Los Angeles Kmart has the Fan Stands and Radiator Springs sets also. Unusual for our Kmarts to get anything during the first wave. Kmart also has Action Agents Spy Train, Crabby Boat and Battle Stations (or whatever its called). Lots and lots of the Kmart Day cars, lots of Hydralic Ramone, so more cases must have come recently. (they were sold out)
No sign of the Kmart two-packs however.

Christmas??? My guess is more like Back To School / Labor Day timing.
I will be looking for that red sticker on the box. Then I will look closer for the second and third red sticker on top of it before I buy! Now my daughter likes Kung Zhu and Target has really helped me out on that!
I was shocked to see those all on clearance this morning for $2.50 each!
They have been $2.50 here for over a month. We got all 8 and now have the battle armor for five of them at $1.98 each!
if you have a CVS pharmacy nearby, all their hamsters and playsets were $2 ea.
My Walmart discounted these to $3/$4 after Christmas, and they are all pretty much still there. lol
Still need 3 sets of Battle Armor for her Kung Zhus. My Kmart has the 3 we are missing but still want to try to sell them for $9 each. That made me LOL as a walked out with them still hanging on the pegs. I’ll check a few more Targets and maybe some CVSs now, thanks!

No more hamsters please! They seem to multiply on their own! We only need the Kung Zhu Battle Armor for 3 of the 8 hamsters. We need the Green armor for Rivet. (Sgt. Serge has green armor too just a lighter shade.) Then we need the Blue Armor and the Red Armor. Then these hamsters can start killing each other.

WOW!! I found that stow and go about a month and a half ago at a toy shop in Ellicot City, MD. Little pricey there but I thought it was out everywhere. Should have pulled the ‘First’ card on that one and bought it. It’s neat.
Found both of these last weekend at different Kmarts.
I’m going to need 5 of these, at least.
What I think you will see on this movie is like a speedway of the south set it will have the few racers that they have in the movie in the set with a set up of the stands with a bunch of fans in it.

Yes & you can put up to 18 Maters in & it still closes.
