Mattel Disney Pixar CARS 2: Pop Open Speedway Carrying Case

Out now, thanks “Oliver’s Mom.”

Looks HUGE.

Ad earlier pics of it without sleeve …

And opened …

It does not have wheels, the handle does not pop up like luggage. You can get a sense of it’s scale here also (thanks for the great photos, “Oliver’s Mom.”

Sign me up! I think it looks great and my boys will love the racing set up. Where did you find it, Julia? What was the price tag on this bad boy? Nice score!

How muck was it? Where? EAsy pass, just curious. I will get the 2 planes, Stephenson, the fan stands, and nothing else. Well, maybe the bus if clearanced low, but it’s not that great.

Quite honestly, I thought the best Disney Cars cases are the rehashed ones from the Hot Wheels line. It is the simple retangular case with the door and the artwork printed on some cardboard and glued to the door. Those cases are very flexible in being able to accommodate cars of all sizes. They even fit The King just fine. Big Lots has the with Monster Truck Mater on the front for $9.50. These fancy ones are just more prone to break and are way more expensive. I suppose they are good for kids traveling somewhere and can take a race track with them. But most of the time, the cars stay at home.

That last photo looks like it’s from 1975. 🙂

I think mattel is putting too much emphasis on cases and playsets than on the die casts this time around. The amount of playing time that comes from pushing the cars around the kitchen floor far exceeds the total time spent playing with a playset. The original Cars 1 town playsets let children recreate scenes from the film for hours on end and the Toons and Cars 2 sets offer an action feature that must be repeated over and over that they loose interest very quick. And still the best carry case that can hold hundreds of cars is the cardboard box. Man, I’m getting old sounding.
