Please send us pics of you opening and tearing it apart. 🙂
For those unfamiliar with the 2006 Factory Set & Rollin’ Bowling Mater, you can read about it in this post from way back when.
Latest check on this gave no results. The box has disappeared from the net!!
Maybe the seller read to much complains on take5aday.
Prices for the Factory and Speedway Of The South sets are now really low,if you still are looking for one now is the time!!
I know Dan, the seller. Ihaven’t been buying from him for almost 3 years now. I remember back then, this set was around $500 if I don’t recall badly, but his prices has always been crazy to begin with. He fetl short on some item and suddenly the price of that had a 300% increase. Now with this set he went far beyond any reasonable estimation. It might attract crazy people to go into his stores, but it certainly freaks away everybody else. I don’t really understand.
Quercy had it figured from the beginning. Just a marketing trick to try and raise the value and call attention to his store.
I personally believe these types of listings do more harm than good but the method of listing an outrageous price for a rare item is nothing new.
However the negative view of a certain amount of buyers and viewers outweighs the added attention to your store.
That’s my belief anyway but too each is own.
It comes down to money is truly the root of all evil. Anyway or anywhere there is a dollar to be made someone will be there to try and make it. Money sure makes people do crazy things in general and has been the motivation for so many evils of the world.
A Factory Sealed Set sold today for 706.75. This makes much more sense.
Who really believes anyone would pay 28k for this set.

On July 3rd a Factory Set sold for 706.75 30 bids. This makes sense.
Thank You!! Met, can you please get a screenshot of THAT auction and post it for history’s sake?
Talking about rare.Does anybody own a first desert art series Mack hauler with McQueen in A window in the same box?
Not the single Mack nor the later supercharged or world of cars Mack!
Or how about the very first European desert art Lizzie which has A simular error like the U.S.one.
The cardback is also missing the decal in the upper right corner and the names underneath the cars on the back have been replaced with their production numbers, clearly A card that was still in prototype fase when they started using it like the U.S.card!Only to discorve the mistakes after production!
Anyone own any of these?
(MET: See post HERE).
Thanks for the link Met!
I usually check quit often but must have missed this page.
I also own this collection and it is to me the most Beautifull one cause you can see the entire cars in the blister!
Actually there are two first series in Europe for the 12 backs unlike the U.S. 12 cars back who have 3 different series!
In Europe there is A 12 carsback run with no nametag nor name anywhere in the blister and one with the names printed on the card inside the blister!
How about the Mack truck I refered to have you ever seen one like that?
(MET: The first Mack with McQueen in the US seems to be the SC one but if you have a one earlier from Desert Art that is a US release, send me a pic front & back – thanks!)
well there is a new set listed on ebay, this time for 38,000.
talk about greed
http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Pixar-Cars-2006-Factory-Sealed-Set-1-500-RARE-/130535911666?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item1e648bf0f2
there are a couple listed for 2,000.
what am i missing???
im sorry, i have a question about this set, whats the big deal on it, yes it was only 500 made, but is the set a display like the speedway set or just a box that holds the carded cars..
i tried to find pics of this thing but only see the box.
it is an almost completly closed box with just A small window showing Dirt Track McQueen and Rollin Bowlin Mater!Pictures of every car in the box are shown on the back of the box.
There are pics of an opened box from way back somewhere here on take5aday,if you type it in above you should find em.
(MET: Unboxing pics are here).
Only 500 made worldwide is very few but considering there are only 2 rare cards and actually only on rare car prices are really high for this!!
If you take the SOTS set which is only twice the amount but much more opened and divided,I guess, prices are extremly low nowadays!!
This set contains a lot more difficult to find cars like the Apple or SOTS Dale Earnhardt junior!!
Curious if the Apple car will ever be released as single or even better with rubber tires!!
Wonder what the price will be for the first one who puts a customised SOTS set with all rubber tires Cars on!!
I bet that everybody who sold his SOTS Cars and replaced them with rubber tire Cars is waiting for that one final car to complete!!
Must look awesome!!
Only 4 more days till Cars 2 arrives here in Antwerp!!Finally!!
I don’t consider Rowlin Bowlin Mater rare.
It was a shelfwarmer here until the game sets went on sale for 9.99 to 15.00 at the end of the year in 2007.
Of course the cards were rare, since they were never issued at retail. The cards for these two cars were manufactured just for this set. Dirt Track and Rowlin Bowlin Mater were never issued on Desert Scene cards to the public.
So to me, I have my Desert Set as it was issued at retail in the stores, and see this set as not necessary. At least I can see and enjoy my wave 1 open set of Cars and my complete set on card. As a collector who wants to just look at a red box with a window for 2 cars in it. nks.
I will enjoy the MSOTS set forever, its beautiful, and more importantly you can see the cars.
Of course Rollin’ Bowlin’ Mater is rare.
Actually, he is more than rare, he is retired. Even when Mater’s Rollin’ Bowlin’ Game was available, it was only at a handful of stores (Wal-Mart and KB Toys come to mind), so it was rare back then too, shelfwarmer or not.
Plus, it’s not like you can walk in the store and find him along with the other versions of Mater. In fact, I saw a Brand New Mater at TJ Maxx today and realized he is now rare too, if not retired now as well.
rollin bowlin mater when I bought mine the day they stocked it to the shelf there were 11 left on the shelf. 7 days later they were all gone and our walmart NEVER got another shipment although they tried.
Actually they were available internationally, but not in the US. I have them both on desert cards.
Are the labels in English only? If so, they’re from this set.
No labels on these releases.
Too many exclamation points are almost as bad as CAPS LOCK!!
It’s worse, IMO.
The error Spare O Mint set shows sold as well.
I will sell one of mine for only $25,000. 😉
This set has been on Ebay ever since they first apeared in 2007 and the price goes up every year!It started around 18.000 dollar back then and has steadily been going up!!By the way this box is sill UNSOLD AND AVAILABLE ON EBAY !!
I checked 5 minutes ago!!
Bought mine for 400 dollars shipping included and sold it 4500!!
This set alone repaid about 60% of total Cars investment so far !!Best deal I have ever done!!
And I still own one!!
There is still one available at 1500 Dollars on Ebay but I think he has opened it up!!
Coolest thing for me that Mattel could ever produce regarding Cars is to make A complete collection factory case with all the cars they have made from the first movie like they do each year with Hot Wheels!!
One limited box with all single Cars!!I would order one right now!!
I bet what they did was have a FAMILY MEMBER click the buy it now so people would think someone actually bought it. 🙂
I HAVE 5 SETS WILL SELL FOR 20K EACH WILL GIVE A DISCOUNT ON MORE THEN ONE AND FREE SHIPPING LOL
He got exactly what he wants… To have you get in is store…
Still one availabe. But the price has gone up to US $33,972.00…

That is just crazy!
I thought it would have the bid history of “1 bid” if someone actually bought it, but I don’t recall. He has also posted another set for even more: http://cgi.ebay.com/Disney-Pixar-Cars-2006-Factory-Sealed-Set-1-500-RARE-/130535911666?pt=Diecast_Vehicles&hash=item1e648bf0f2
If anyone REALLY believes that this transaction was completed, I’ve got some land in the Bermuda Triangle to sell you.
I also wish the Seller good luck in the speedy recoup of the $3,476.64 eBay Final Value Fee! 😆
no thanks, that looks like a kiddie pool.
I got it!!!
Clicking the “Buy It Now” button and actually paying for it are two completely different things, but hey, more power to the seller!
I would rather have a REAL collector car I can drive around for that $$…
I would rather drive that collector car around and hunt for the Disney cars!
Think how many Cars I could fit in a ’62 Lincoln Continental Convertible!
all of them!
Totally!
