Disney Pixar CARS 2: $26 Million Dollar Friday …
The weekend is not over yet but so far & estimated …
Disney and Pixar finished with a strong opening day launch for its 3D animated sequel Cars 2 which grossed an estimated $25.7M on Friday in its first day of release.
The Mater movie is heading to a three-day opening that could even beat the $66.7M five-day holiday bow of rival summer 3D toon sequel Kung Fu Panda 2. With most children now out of school, Friday should amount to a large portion of the weekend take. Look for Cars 2 to reach $68-71M this weekend.

On 22 June the first of Cars 2 in a movie theater in the center of Rome there were only 18 people in a cinema 3D for 250 people! We hope the best for it. It’s a good film for both “old” children who had seen the first and have since grown up with their parents for the “new” children of three or four years even if the screenplay of a little film for kids “adult”. Ciao. Luigi

Got this from a online news source, cant remember but its doing huge overseas and its only 25 percent of overseas area that it was released in ,
said Disney, the Cars 2 debut beat that of 2009โs Up (which grossed a total of $438.3 million foreign) by 80%. The weekend also outpaced that of 2007โs Ratatouille (with a foreign cume of $417.3 million) by 77%; and that of 2010โs Toy Story 3 ($648.2) by 4%.
http://entertainment.msn.com/news/article.aspx?news=655453 Accoring to thisโฆcars 1 beat it.
I need everyone to go see Cars 2 today, if you haven’t seen it yet! You need to break all box office records! Do it today! Please! Don’t wait! Skip breakfast and lunch! I’m taking my granddaughter this week and I don’t want to wait in long lines! ๐
I think the estimate is low… Everyone I spoke to is heading there on Saturday…
Save one family and us…
And since everyone still wants to see it – Oblivious to the scalding reviews… – It should prove to be a triple digit weekend, I think
Plus the not-so-good weather lends itself to more indoor activities, like Cars movies!
Man, I hope they make a Northwestern diecast and a Mega XXL (or whatever that huge dump truck is called) diecast! The Northwestern was actually voiced by Sig Hansen too. I’d like to hear how that came about.
There’s a cool big Crabby coming as a Mini playset. Also the bad guy battleship.
That’s peanuts compared to what will be raked in on merchandise!
We got a bunch of MTT stuff at TRU on clearance today, the clearance stuff was also an extra 25% off AND the clerk gave us 2 free passes for the movie! AND the theater we went to served beer!
I just had a thought — at the very beginning of the movie, Finn is on the Northwestern boat looking for the secret oil fields. When the other vessel confronts the boat and asks what he is doing out there, the Northwestern responds that he is out crabbing. OK, so WHO exactly eats crabs in the Cars world???
Or Wasabi or Pistachio Ice Cream…please don’t over analyze. Or you start thinking about things like why do Cars need a bathroom, How do they load ammo into their guns, and such. You will get a headache…lol
We here in Canada feed crab to our cars on special occasions… It is quite fun watching them try to get the meat out of the shell!
P.P.S How did mater write that letter?
Paid $18 on tickets and then went to Target. Found some cereal with coupons on it and got three FREE cars. Found Petrov Trunkov who I thought wasn’t out yet. Overall a great Friday!
Spent $50 for 2 adult and 3 children tickets for the 4:15 pm 3D showing on Friday… spent another $25 or so on concessions… and I spent a little bit on Cars merchandise today… it’s been an expensive but fun last 24 hours or so…
We all enjoyed the movie…
Did anyone else see that in the beginning of the movie, Miles Axlerod is in the same jungle from Up? I did.
In the beginning the drive-in at Radiator Springs was showing “The Incredimobiles”. Not sure if that counts as an Easter Egg since I was just what the sign read, but it was still cool.
No surprise here. Great sequel. Did anyone spot any Easter eggs. I did notice only one, Gastones rester aunt from Rattolluie.
I thought that was great! It was called Gastow’s in the movie, but during the end credits you could see the original name Gaston’s as well as the original chef from Ratatouille.
Just think if they counted concession sales too!
The theatre here just reopened after a massive overhaul so all our popcorn and drinks were free!
So were ours (not counting the $28 convenience fee).
ROFL! I don’t care who you are, that’s funny right there!
Dare I say…Cars 3?
WOO HOO! I know they got our $67 this weekend….and more to come!
