The first Lightning McQueen from the Finish Line Frenzy Game was silver flamed … the new release? Gold.
Yes, he is diecast and actually nicely done … not many paint anomolies.

Even the box is different. The tag under his display window now reads TRU Exclusive LM …
There is also the CARS 2 RACE AROUND THE WORLD snipe as well as the ONLY at TOYS R US snipe (they are not stickers, they are part of the printed portion of the box).
There were 3 of each kind at this TRU so it’s hard to say – I did not notice if the silver ones were still the 1st release box or the updated box.
If the silver ones are updated to the current box, then maybe they will ship in equal quantities from here on out?
If the silver ones are only in the older box, then are each color a limited run?
Or will we get a new color every 2 weeks?

wow, I was able to find both of those babies !! There are super nice !!
Whew! Got there just in time to grab the last of the new Platinum AND Diamond versions of lightning McQueen in Wave 3 of the Finish Line Frenzy game! This one is the same except you have to rush to TRU to try and find all 4 versions of the exclusive McQueen before your fellow collectors…
Word on the street has it that American Express will get an exclusive “Black” version of Lightning McQueen in the next version, but it costs more than 99% of the people frequenting this site can afford (myself included). Gotta collect em all … or not
Hmmm … I have checked my closet 3 TRU and have seen 10 or so of these … all silver … maybe a CHASE GAME???? lol
Hit TRU today in Toronto and did NOT see these babies… though the “Ride Makerz” were out… Gonna have to go back with out the wifie and kids… These are probably the only ones I might wanna get into… They looks so COOL!!!!

Mattel is really milking the Cars2 line for all it’s worth… Too much of a good thing…
Yep. Absolutely they are. Just too many slight variations and sets with one different car for me. However now Mattel has actually did me a favor because their ridiculous distribution and tricks have turned me from collect them all to collect what I want at a price I want it.
So instead of me buying every new one at whatever cost necessary and Mattel controlling me, I will control myself and use Mattel anyway I see fit. Give me what I want at a price I want or they can keep it.
Amen to that! Sorry for completist but better get the kid into College than buying this crap, these versions are absolutelly insane! And it’s just the begiinning. I can’t understand how people don’t find the expression “collect them all” repulsive by now. I have a very big collection but the minute I read about these ridiculous versions I feel less and less willing to go with cars 2 as far as I did with cars 1.
They look like different eye positions too. Hard to tell since the Take 5 logo blocks the eyes.
I just wish we knew who to talk to about that. It’s not like we can just contact a real live person at the megaconglomerate that runs this site. It’s probably just stamped on their by some robocomputer anyway.
Looks the same to me, sorry. Looking again, I think the logo threw me off.

Must say though… They do look really good together like that!!! Kinda might wanna give in a bit more into getting these…?!?!?!?
We actually are all made out of stars. You, me, this rock, that tree, and Lightning McQueen with gold numbering. But I’m still not going to buy another Finish Line Frenzy everytime they change his coloring.
I’ll be out prospecting for gold today 🙂
