Esquire – Father of the Year: John Lasseter
Father of the Year
People are worried about the state of boys in America. For almost twenty years, though, John Lasseter and Pixar have been helping boys grow into good men. Everything is going to be fine.

Who’s OUR daddy!?!
Congrats to John. I hope my boys are like Andy when they are college age :). Cars 1 was the first movie at the theater that they lasted all the way through, even through the credits and they actually stood for the whole thing, one of my fave memories.
Remember when theater audiences used to clap at the end of a movie? Now they’re all racing for the door as soon as the first credit appears! Not me, I sit there like a dork reading every word, even as the attendants start picking up all the leftover popcorn buckets, etc.

That photo was taken in Pixar’s digital theatre. If you went to the benefit in November that’s where they showed us Toy Story 3 in 3D. The best theatre experience I have experienced. Lee Unkrich told us before they started the movie that they do their “dailies” in this theatre which is their screenings in the film to look for mistakes and see how the movie is coming along on a big screen. The seats are huge and comfy. (John is a big guy) 😀
I remember taking my grandson to see Cars back in 2006 when he was 4 years old… I wasn’t sure how it would go but it was great… My wife and I will be taking all 3 grandchildren to see the movie on the 24th… We’re all looking forward to it.
For all of those whose kids’ first movie in the theatre will be Cars 2 and you were wondering how they will act: see photo above.
I just took my 4-year old for his first – Panda 2. He was stunned! He didn’t do anything but watch with his eyes wide open! Funny thing was that after the movie he said he didn’t like it! 🙂
(MET: 😆 ).
