The Pit Stop Launchers are a nice return to the old launchers …
When you press down on the Alloil barrel, it sets off the launcher. The one thing is unlike the original launchers where you press down on a solid stick – the barrel is a bit wobbly and probably not a long lasting activation device for most kids. I could definitely see it being snapped off as you have to exert pressure to launch the car …
And it also attaches and clips onto the the old Pit Stop launcher …

Do you think Nigel will be a single on the 16th? And when do you think Max will? If they come out when Rip and Lewis come out then I guess I’ll just wait and skip the launchers.
Nigel is scheduled as a single but not in the first 5 cases a least. Max is only scheduled in the box sets and as a launcher. I have only seen Lewis as a launcher and have not seen Rip at all in any form. I’m hoping he will be released for Kmart day.
Okay so Nigel won’t be available as a single on the 16th? Sorry to sound stupid but I don’t understand the cases. If he is then I guess I’ll just buy the 4 pack that includes Max. Then after that just buy the single for Raoul.
Well what I think I might do is get the the one 4 pack with Miguel, Francesco, Lightning, and Shu. Then buy the singles for Jeff, Carla, and Raoul. I would buy the launchers for Max and Nigel from Kohl’s because I bet I can get those cheap.
That is exactly what I am doing. Already have the singles and launchers. Just need the 4 pack!
Are they releasing all the launchers on the 16th? If they do will Kohls have them all? If they do I can probably save a good amount of money on the racers.
They are realeasing Launchers for Shu Todoroki, Nigel Gearsley, Max Schnell, and Lightning McQueen on the 16th. The other two that are scheduled, Jeff Gorvette and Francesco Bernoulli, are in the next Case and will be released at a later date. There was a Post somewhere about it. MET, do you have a link??
Forgot to mention, Kohl’s will have them, but more expensive than other stores. I think someone mentioned $14.99 but there’s a 30% discount coupon. What would that make it cost?

Miguel Camino is only coming out in the 4 pack with Shu, Lightning, and Francesco. So the only two racers not getting a release on Monday that I can tell are Lewis and Rip. If you want all the launchers, you will have to wait for those two and Carla, Miguel, and Raoul. Those 5 do not have announced release dates that I know of yet.
It’s cool how this new design has a little platform on the left instead of the molded-in impact wrench. Maybe a pitty will fit nicely in this spot. It seems to me that the Pit Row design way outperformed the Lightyear Launcher design. The cars would often get messed up as they were exiting the LYL; they had a hard time staying on their wheels. Car launchers that actually work are a blast; I still remember my old glow-in-the-dark Matchbox Porsche and launcher. Sooooo great. I might just go ahead and get Shu…. oh no it’s happening agaaaainnnnn….
I hid the launchers from my son so he wouldn’t shoot his cars into things like walls, furniture, his sister, etc…
We got the only two launchers that we need to get all 9 racers without having to buy extra 4 packs. Nigel and Max! They look awesome. Going to check Target tommorow night to see if they put their 4 packs out early because now we only need one!
Hey Mattel …. I have a great idea that will make you a boat load of money …. how about adding a RETRO Flashback Cars 1 Launcher as a Chase into EACH of the Cars 2 Launcher Cases??????????? Then we can complete the Pit Row from the original movie!! Any one want to start a petition with me????? 😀
For me launchers are a big waste of money for a plastic part who is not in the movies or in any Tales story… but I am okay with accessories like oil cans, lamp or signature plate only because they are shown in the movie… This is only my opinion.
I agree with you. I don’t like having to buy a launcher just to get Max and Nigel. 2 launchers will cost less than 2 racing four packs though and I don’t want to wait until July or August to get a Ransburg Nigel because that is the only way I have seen him coming as a single. Have you updated your chart yet?

I opened a set – I like how they display… I agree with those of you who say the won’t hold up to repeated launching.
I think the reason for the Lightyear Launcher was an attempt to improve the launching mechanism… unfortunately, that didn’t help the display for those attempting to collect them all… Yes, bring back the Cars 1 Pit Row Race-off launchers – we’ve seen prototypes for Tow Cap, Bumper Save, and Tach O Mint…no new ones since the Sputter Stop/Spare Mint case from over a year ago.
That makes me sick how long ago that was! Jake ran a contest in March 2010 with Sputter Stop and Sparemint launchers as the prize.
Yeah, that was a pretty fun contest. Yesterday I was clearing some space for Cars 2 and found a couple sealed cases with Sputter Stop & Sparemint Launchers. Anyone interested?

Can’t anyone at all these stores READ??? Mattel wasted a lot of money printing the message in red about waiting until May 16. I’ve been contemplating not collecting Cars 2 toys, and hearing all the stories about early finds takes any remaining fun out of this for me. 🙁

So far, the only retailer in West VA that didn’t read the box was Family Dollar. The only other place I have seen the Cars 2 stuff out is Walmart in Maryland. And those were just the first case of Mater’s Secret Mission exclusives.

Same with me. I even hit a Walmart on the way into work this morning and they still had empty shelf space where all the Cars 2 stuff is going. They did have Everett out though.

Funny and true story,
At a TRU in Oz I went to yesterday they had all of their Cars 2 merchandise out on display, looking impressive and all. But at the front of the store was a big row of empty shelving with trolleys and pallets of unopened boxes sitting nearby. All the boxes contained Transformer toys that clearly had labels not to put out until May 16. They had then gone to the extra effort of attaching various signs someone had handdrawn in thick texta to not open until the 16th! At least the Cars were out!
I’m glad I’m not the only one who think that WM /Target / TRU and Kohls employee should go back to school and learn how to read !

I am glad to know in Arkansas we are not in the future yet and we have the chance to enjoy all our days of the month of may… 🙂 16th will be the 16th exactly like the calendar shows.
These launchers are AWESOME!! Totally wish they would have finished the Cars 1 launchers … maybe they will … one daaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy (mater voice) 😆
If the new launchers sell well, they would be foolish not to rerelease the old style launchers. I wonder who’s bright idea was the lightyear launchers? Why mess up a good thing? Not too sure they sold all that well because my Kmart still has a bunch of the old style launchers. They have even more lightyear launchers just sitting around. I wasn’t going to get any launchers but I don’t want to wait until July or August to get Nigel so now I am planning on getting him and Max as a launcher so I will just get 1 four pack.

So magic day is the 16th for stores to finally, officially, put out all the Cars2 merch they’ve been hoarding in their backrooms, do we think the TRU Express stores will get stuff too? The nearest TRU is about 90 minutes away but there is a TRU Express in the mall here. Any thoughts?
I’ll bet you one dollar that the TRU Express locations get all the Cars 1 stuff the regular TRU’s didn’t / couldn’t sell.
That’s a good sign… They are learning from what works from the last set and hopefully make this second lineup better…
