I attended the benefit in November and watched Toy Story 3 in their theatre. Probably the best movie experience ever. I loved how they start every movie 🙂 The tour was awesome. You don’t get to really see much other than office doors, but they did put out the archives, drawings, paintings, and scultures they used to create the movie. I asked them if they’d change everything to Cars 2 and they said yes. I also got an impromtu meet and greet/signature from Lee Unkrich. He was a really good guy and took the time to flip through my Cars book to show me a few things. I was impressed. Would have liked to meet Lasseter, but hopefully that will happen this November! You also get an opportunity to go into the company store. There’s wasn’t much selection but I did find a Cars hawaiian shirt (Reyn Spooner) that made the 1 hour wait worth it.
For the silent auction…well it’s not really silent. You start “pre-bidding” so just because you won on paper they start out the auction with the last bid. I was excited up until that point because I was winning a signed poster of all the team members who did Private Eye Mater for $150. A guy in the crowd got me up until $300. I think he was a Pixar employee thinking I would keep going. I really wanted it though, but I also wanted to pay my bills 🙂 If I had $1,000 extra I would go to this one as well.
Was it Dave Hester or Ton Jones who bid up your auction? 🙂
What a great cause for the Lasseters to support. My daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when she was ten. She is now on an insulin pump which is one of the great things that has come from the JDRF research. Thank You so much Lasseters and Pixar!
Geez, that is a lot of money! I’d have to pay $4,000 to bring my family! I might have went but not if it’s that much money. Really great cause though!
great news!
What a great cause… The Lasseters and Pixar step up to the plate…
