Disney Store CARS 2 CARS products arrive in store tomorrow. Not sure exactly what they are planning but I would guess the 1:43 scale series is continuing …
Meanwhile, they are having a sale on their current 1:43 diecasts – lowest price in a while – 2 for $8.

10 racecars for $20? Hmmm. I might have to stop at the Disney Store in Columbia, MD to get a set that my kids can break. I don’t know how fun they will be for them if they don’t roll though.
The release date according to the stores is 5/18 for the diescast, however Francesco and Sarge from Cars 2 are available on the website now in the acrylic cases. I just ordered both of them.
The big Rescue Squad helicopter that was $50 at Christmas is now $20.

Perhaps someone can clarify but I am not sure at first glance the racers in the Disney Store 10 car Cars set are the bigger 1:43 scales size. They look smaller in this set like the figurine Disney Store sets. I am not sure what the scale is but the Disney store carries two different size Cars. The figurine size is pretty close to the Mattel size.
I don’t think Disney store items are in any particular scale. I’ve been collecting 1/43 scale replicas (automotive models) for decades, and average disney store diecast CAR is at least twice the size of 1:43 scale modelcar.
(MET: Yea, you’re right – in comparing to other 1:43’s, what do you think, 1:32? Not that they are a strict 1:32 but around there?)
Hard to say really, not knowing what the “actual size” of the characters was. But yeah, if you consider Mattel versions as a 1:55, I’d say they are closer to 1:32 than they are to 1:43.
I will check them out to see what they look like, but I have stayed away from collecting another line. I do have the light up tuners because they were too cool to pass up,ok well maybe the huge Frank too,but really that is all 🙂
The light up Tunerz were IMPOSSIBLE to pass up … they are the only Disney Scale Cars I have. Maybe with Mattel’s introduction of the “Lights and Sounds” line for Cars 2, they can go back and do the Tunerz!! 🙂
That would be cool if they did them for the 1:55 scale. I was looking at the demos of the lights and sounds cars, and they look pretty cool.
I wasn’t too impressed by the quality of the 1:43’s at the Disney Store. A couple have fallen apart, not sure if it’s cause my son’s likes to “crash” them, or lesser quality production. Some of the screws have fallen out too. Our tractor is still in good shape tho!
My son had the Disney Store Dinoco helicopter not more than 5 minutes before he broke one of the landing gears off. I glued it back on and of course a week later he broke it off again. The only other 1:43s we have are Frank and 5 Tractors. He keeps Frank in a “garage” so he doesn’t get broken. I have had to glue mirrors and smoke stacks back on a few Tractors. The 1:43s look great if they are just going to sit on a shelf. If a 3 year old is going to play with them, you gotta go with Mattel!

Seen a picture of the Cars 2 racecars in a multipack. Good if you are collecting the 1:43’s.

You know that pack is totally cool for young children- PVC/Die Cast combo is great to be dropped few times without any major damage, and big enough for lil’ hands. Perfect for growing teeth too…
