Disney Pixar CARS 2: New Trailer Debuts on Entertainment Tonight + New Characters
A New CARS 2 trailer #2 will air tonight (3.7.2011) exclusively on Entertainment Tonight.
It’s been a while since I’ve actually watched ET – Mary Hart is still on the show? Guess I’ll find out tonight. The lead story seems to be the Lindsay Lohan jewelry robbery-borrowing story with surveillance video so they’ll probably have a team of 8 reporters on that so fair warning what the lead story will be. You can check your local times for exact airing of ET but generally around 7 PM.
The good news is that you also can catch it online by Tuesday morning at: Disney.com, MSN, YouTube and the Disney CARS site … and of course, we’ll link to it from the TakeFive YouTube Channel once it’s up.
And some new characters introductions with more details.
Tomber (no video turntable yet)
Tomber (voice of Michel Michelis) is a dubious little French car with an unusual, and very unstable, three-wheeled design that befits the meaning of his name – to fall. By trade he deals car parts from a stall in a Parisian market—though his questionable merchandise sources have led to his reluctant acquaintance with British secret agent Finn McMissile.
And das main villain … Professor Z.
Professor Z (voice of Thomas Kretschmann), aka “The Professor,” is an internationally wanted weapons designer in a small, sophisticated German package. He is a brilliant, but mad monocle-wearing scientist who is plotting to sabotage the World Grand Prix. Though his true motive is unclear, Professor Z is willing to do whatever it takes to eliminate all obstacles and keep the “project” on schedule.
Professor Z turntable is up …
And new since the last characters update, Rod Torque Redline (SPOILER ALERT IN HIS PARAGRAPH DESCRIPTION)
Rod ‘Torque’ Redline is considered by many as the greatest American spy in the world. Recruited after the Cold War for both his brains and brawn, Torque is a tough-as-nails Detroit muscle car with a mastery of disguises. In his latest deep-cover operation, he obtained vital information about the plot to sabotage the World Grand Prix. So Rod plans a rendezvous with his British counterparts to share his discoveries at the World Grand Prix welcome reception in Tokyo, Japan. But with the bad guys hot on his tailpipe, Rod is forced to ditch the intel early and with the first party guest he sees – a rusty American tow truck named Mater.
Siddeley the Jet (no video turntable)
Siddeley is a state-of-the-art British twin-engine spy jet. At 176 feet from nose to tail and an impressive 157-foot wingspan, the super sleek silver-bodied Siddeley streaks through international skies at record-breaking mach 1 speeds. Outfitted with all the latest in high-tech spy equipment, including cloaking technology, defensive weaponry and afterburners, Siddeley is Finn McMissile’s steadfast partner-in-fighting-crime around the globe.
Siddeley as part of the Mattel lineup preview is HERE.
You can check out the other announced characters here.
Commercial Was not on, I watched a show that was just a bunch of drivel.
(MET: I couldn’t find ET airing here – but the CARS trailer was supposed to be part of the show, my guess is the ‘most important’ Charlie Sheen getting fired was the ‘breaking news,’ so they needed the 90-seconds for a shot of a dude standing in front of the studio gates or Charlie’s street … saying ‘it’s quiet here.’ eating into the promo time for CARS 2 … so if you need a reason to hate Chuck …).
No “ET” tonight on our channel. Programming showed it should have been ET, but it was a stupid “music of the 50’s” or something like that, trying to sell a CD collection.
A brand new Cars 2 trailer was released today via MSN Movies!!!

AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😀
I think they pulled it… 🙁
It didn’t air at all tonight.
John in Missouri, that wouldn’t make sense though because Cars 2 comes out in June. So, why would they put out a new trailer in July. 😛 I see what you mean though.
Maybe it’s supposed to be on the 17th?
Maybe when Met put 3-7-2011, that was European for July 3. 🙂
(MET: It does say tonight – was the Lindsay Lohan coverage so extensive they dropped LM & Mater? …. if nothing else, we should have a link up by tomo morning so hold on loosely).
I think I missed it here on the east coast, anyone see it?
I spent the past 30 minutes watching a show I never watch to find that the Cars 2 Trailer wasn’t on! Did anybody else catch it?? I only missed the very first minute of it. Was that when they showed it?
Did this air tonight? I watched the whole show but never saw the trailer.
Can’t wait for the trailer!

Tomber is a Reliant Regal, see:Reliant Regal
a British car, not sure what he’d be doing in the French marketplace, but could be why Finn trusts him?

I set the DV-R to record ET, so we’ll see what Cars stuff they show! 🙂
Yes, unfortunately Mary Hart is still on “Entertainment Tonight”, as proven by the fact that she inserts herself into every story, every picture, every video clip, every every, etc…
But the good news is that this is her last season, hurrah hurrah!!!
Mary is supposed to leave ET after May, if she sticks to her plan to leave.
Remember when the big news was that her legs were insured by Lloyds of London for 2 Million dollars?
LOL — do you remember what her voice did to the one viewer years ago? They even put that into a “Seinfeld” episode, and Kramer went into convulsions as well.
I’d just plug my ears and look at her legs…..still pretty nice after all these years.
AWESOME!
A BIGGER HOUSE FOR ME IN JULY!!
“Torque is a tough-as-nails Detroit muscle car with a mastery of disguises.”
Shall we take bets now on how many variants Mattel will make for this Car???
One less than 2.8x the number of McQueen Variants…
And what does a Detroit musclecar disquise himself as????? Every time he started his engine, others would know he was not a VW! :}
