Hello all, hope everyone is doing well, and still have money left…

Just wanted to share the news with fellow enthusiasts…I went to our newly renovated Disney Store today in Mississauga (land of no new Cars). It is amazing! They still have the same diecast cars, but the layout is much better – but they also have these fully customizable cars (please bear with me because I’m not so good with the technical stuff) that are about the size of the rc cars the Mattel Store was offering a while back (big ones). There are at least 5 different characters to customize, with all the little parts to choose from.. You can even use the power screwdrivers in-store and customize before you leave. The price is kinda hefty… $50+ for non-rc and $70+ for rc. Parts range from $4-10. All the boys who entered the store while I was there were squealing with delight, especially when they saw the customization table. I guess I was lucky my son was at school, but I did make the mistake of telling him later. He “fainted” and is begging me to take him there asap. His b-day is coming up and he wants enough money to buy one, or hopefully several (!!) himself. This hobby is sooooo expensive. I didn’t see any of this stuff on the website, and I’m sorry I didn’t have my camera on me, but next time I will snap some pics to share!

Oh, there were lots of other goodies in the store if you’re a Disney (esp. Mickey) fan. So many things to go bankrupt on…
Kinda sad I missed the grand opening yesterday because they gave out Mickey hats and Mickey and Minnie were there…

(MET: Come back in a couple weeks for Disney Store CARS 2 Preview 🙂 ).

Went to my Wal-Mart. No new Cars, and only 1 BYE BYE Kar… somebody took one of them. He was mixed in with some Tokyo Mater Playsets. And no Disney Stores in my area. 🙁

Just too bad the US Disney stores don’t really carry the Mattel cars as in other countries. I have heard rumors that they would here but haven’t seen our stores carry Mattel cars yet.

Yeah, for Southcenter Mall, Washington State. That’s less than 25 miles away. Also, good for Chuki!

  • Sibsy says:

I’m SO glad to be getting our Disney Store back in BC. They closed it down last year, from what I understand, due to an increase in rent from the mall. It was in a pretty prime spot, and amazingly, I guess Disney couldn’t afford to keep the store up and running. The new location isn’t so hot, it’s on the bottom floor in a corner, but hey….one is better than none!

None close to me in eastern Indiana… the one on the south side of Indianapolis closed last year… I haven’t been to the one on the northeast side of Indy recently.
