“Owen Wilson, who voices race car Lightning McQueen, remembers Newman fondly from the first film: “Paul loved fast cars. He said, ‘If you have to worry about the risk, you’re dead already.’ I couldn’t relate to that. I’m happy in my Prius.” As for the sequel, Wilson says, “There’s a nice homage to Paul in it.”

(MET: Yea, I think like Fillmore’s appearance in the short, they will just continue on with the new actor – they will note in the credits somewhere that George Carlin has passed on but Fillmore continues on with a slightly different voice).

Glad to hear that there is a Paul Newman (Doc Hudson) tribute in Cars 2… I hope they’ll have a tribute to George Carlin (Fillmore) as well, even though Fillmore will be in the movie.
