Comcast Xfinity iPad App – Now Streaming
The Comcast Xfinity App was already very nice …
You get an interactive TV grid that makes the BEST TV REMOTE EVER. Scroll through the channels at lightning speed, tap on a show to get the “info” box (above) … click on WATCH ON TV and it CHANGES THE CHANNEL for you! Also great for messing with the person holding the remote if you don’t know …
Now, they have taken it a step further and have added STREAMING-VIEWING right on the iPad. There is NOT a lot of stuff available yet but since it’s free – it’s all good.
There is a new choice at the bottom – PLAY NOW.
The menus work the same but now it presents a GREEN PLAY button (or RESUME if you pause it). And much like Netflix, it’s like magic, the tv show-movie starts playing in seconds.
The only downside is that the quality is not as good as Netflix and you don’t get HD choices – but it’s a nice start – Netflix didn’t offer HD choices immediately also.
These are the only networks onboard with Xfinity streaming so far so it’s better if you’re a premium subscriber but I’m sure others will come board soon …
If you don’t subscribe to a channel such as Cinemax, you get the ORANGE button with a lock. They do ask if you want to subscribe.
So, not great yet but not a bad start – but works seamlessly and smoothly … and for free if you’re a Comcast subscriber, very nice.
The iPhone Xfinity App does NOT stream to your iPhone.

The Xfinity app is pretty cool, my cousin has Comcast and he showed it to me over the weekend. It was pretty cool that he was able to edit the DVR schedule and so on using his iPad, but what I was surprised about is he couldn’t watch live TV outside of his home network. My DISH Network app, the DISH Remote Access, allows me to do all of this as well as watch TV or recorded programs from anywhere with an internet connection. As far as the online content, every one of the big providers have that now, as an employee of DISH I know you can find any of these shows or programs online from various places. So this is a great option, just not sure if Xfinity is there yet.
