Thanks for the heads up, Mikey! At this price, I couldn’t resist getting a back-up Sally, Purple Ramone and Sarge, although I told myself I would only be getting 1 opener of each character, ha ha. In other big-box-mail-order news… I ordered an Easy Idle LYLauncher from TRU.com and actually received Easy Idle today – yay! This method is only good for openers, however, as they bent the cardback in half and stuffed it all in a padded mailer.

I tacked on this launcher to a bigger purchase of baby stuff so I got free shipping. Gotta keep the overall cost of the poor man’s SOTS down as much as possible for better long-term marriage success…. 🙂

Yeah, they shipped this one exactly the same as yours. Geesh, 9 failures out of 9 is a very poor track record.

This is a common WM approach up here, especially when there is the bilingual issue with packaging, or another place has the exact same items for sale, and then WM insists that they be distinguishable from the competitors.
For example, I saw this done with Nintendo Mario pull back racers, sold for the longest time at TRU, then WM carries them, exact same packaging except a different UPC stickered over, and the exact same NEW sticker that they used on the 4 pack of Cars.
Also, it may be to also try and control cross border shenanigans by shoppers………………..

My store was $5 on black friday and 5.97 after black friday but they sold out early last week. The turnez one was gone by late afternoon black friday.

Well you could just buy some for the new sale price and return them with your older receipt with the higher price. That’s what we call a self made price adjustment. Good for up to 90 days at most stores compared to the lame week or two price adjustment time period the stores want to give you.
Sometimes you have to adjust the price you pay on your own.
Anytime any Cars go on sale that you bought within 90 days for a higher price you should buy at least as many that you bought at this higher price and return the newly bought ones with your higher price receipt(if you paid by credit card at most stores you don’t even need the receipt). This will mean you get the sale price for every car you bought. So if you bought 10 4 packs for 10.00 ea. = 100.00 + tax and you traded them away already. You buy 10 7.00 ones return for the 100.00 you originally spent. =30.00 + tax put back in your pocket.
You can even do this even if it is a different store that puts the same item you bought on sale and return it the store you paid more. I know some people feel like that is ethically wrong. Whatever. Either way it helps make collecting a little more affordable. The buy low and return high works for me.
