I have gotten a few of these for people overseas and received some yesterday.
I think this needs to be said – re said:
For those that are on the fence about getting this set…
I dont think its worth the money.
Duesenberg car is cool but mostly plastic except for hood and coachwork (central body)….
Only thing metal on Mater is the axles
As an after thought, maybe to avoid it being “lenticular” maters eyes are a decal looking “insert” as well as Santa eyes.
Reindeer mater last year was all plastic as I suspect this years Mater is all plastic too.
Mcqueen this year and last years is a segmented front end. while the standard eyes of Mcqueen are traditional painted eyes, not a cheap afterthought insert.

Is it really that bad? I am an international buyer, and have just started collecting these cars cos my 2 kids (3 and 2yo) and ME are crazy about them. I am still waiting for my first batch of original characters to arrive. Thinking of getting this set since it’s only 19.99 (a lot cheaper than those selling in ebay), though i have to pay double for shipping costs. Planning to buy the last year christmas sets too (at 74.95) from ebay. What do you think?

I just received my order of Mater Saves Christmas cars from Toys R Us, Although they still can not pack them well, no damage was done to any of them. All are in perfect condition and arrived fast.

If it happens again, let them know and make them replace any damaged items. They won’t do anything to improve their packing and service if they don’t know problems exist. Good luck on this order, and may your contents arrive in perfect condition.

I cracked … I order mine this morning, too. Thanks to the Take 5 family that passed on the good find. No sense in running around WISHING to find it on the shelf when I can buy them and have them shipped to me for cheaper than the gas it would take to HUNT them down! 🙂

Wow, $20 for three cars. I think i will wait for a deal. They could have priced it at a more reasonable price point like 14.99. I recall the Truck TRU exclusive started out at 29.99 and then no one was buying them they reduced it to 24.99 and lately seeing them for 19.99.

Reasonable pricing? Nope, I haven’t seen that lately on anything from Mattel. Too many of us suckers that will buy at any price.

Based on Ebay findings I think Target will have the better set with Santa Car, Green Cap Mater, Snow Shovel McQueen, Luigi & Guido, and Peace On Earth Filmore.

I called, canceled my order and re-ordered 2 of them after furhter thought.
I am guessing this will sell out fast unless they have a ton available. At least the first batch. I would suggest not procrastinating if you want to order. Usually online availablity changes quick.

I was on Take5aday this morning and read about the new mater Christmas set. For some reason I decided to get on again tonight. I was dumbfounded to read about the set being available online at TRU. Order mine a few minutes ago. Thank you all for the heads up.

Its been up for 12 hours so as the word spreads, it may not last but the stores will get them eventually out west where I and others who want them are. Just not fast enough for me. Get them on line before all the ebayers buy them up.
Plus their shipping is totally reasonable. I just ordered two and the shipping was less than $6
