Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Scary Fire (Spoiler – Good Ending)
Yann lives in Paris and collects CARS …
Boy, does he ever …
Yea, he not only has the 2006 Factory Set and the MSOS but he has EVERY Semi Cab – that’s a collector 🙂 …
But oh, oh, dark cloud on the horizon …
A fire started in his kitchen …
From the hallway looking in, apparently he almost never closes the door to his collection room but did that day …
Believe it or not, EVERYTHING else in his apartment burned up except for the contents of this room – a little smoke damage to some of the MTT 4-packs but they were cleaned and returned to normal …
The rest of his apartment?
Um, holy snickey, sacre bleu and holy merde.
The great thing is Yann is fine and the good thing is the CARS collection is fine … the rest of his apartment, not so great but again, no injuries and also as amazing, no water damage … especially with the MSOS sitting on the floor.
WOW.
So, um, hate to bring up the real world here but for some-many of you, don’t forget to get insurance for your collection … now that the replacement value of a MSOS set is up to $3,499 (Toywiz) …
You can simply add coverage to your existing homeowners policy which is the easiest way to go or you can check out collectible insurance specialists such as Collectibles Insurance Services. For those of you who have other collectibles (If you have uttered the phrase, “Where’s my Monet? Oh, it’s under the Mater.”) you may want more extensive coverage – you can check out the the bigger players such as Chartis, Chubb or Fireman’s Fund.
Okay, I’m done being an adult.
Yann, hope the rest of your 2010 is better! (Thanks for the heads up, David V.)
Glad you were safe and sound. Shows the importance of closing the doors. A door buys you time in a fire, as long as its closed!
thank you for your comment and compation, it is a crazy story but a good end.no body was hurt ,that the principal.
ps: pour buckland, pourquoi pas, voici mon e-mail

YIKES ALMIGHTY!
Thank the Manufacturer everyone was all right, and by everyone I mean all those Piston Cup Racers!!! Seriously, glad no one was hurt and hopefully your insurance will be good to you and help you get back to regular life FAST!!!!
So sorry Yann. I really do hope things get better soon. Thankfully no one was hurt.
Amazing that the Cars room was spared. A great collection just got even more special.
Blessings to you and your family.
So pleased you are ok Yann, it looks horrific outside of the cars room!!! Hope you get back to normal soon and you have a better half of the year.

Holy Cow! Sorry to hear about the apartment, but glad to hear that you are safe and the collection was not lost … its also good to know my office is protected by a magical Carsma force …. does any one know if Toy Story, Incredibles, Wall e and Transformers will improve the protective properties?? 😉
wow that was close
I think the bigger lesson here that MET failed to point out (I can’t believe it either folks) is …
Make sure you spread your collection out evenly throughout your living space! As Yann and John can attest, the carded Cars seem to be surrounded by some Sedona, AZ type positive energy vortex thingy-ma-bobber (disclaimer: lenticulars have not yet been proven to be as resilient)! I am moving the personal “collection” out of the basement and into my kids rooms for safe keeping. I just need to label all of the boxes as “cleaning supplies” or “broccoli” to keep wandering eyes and fingers out.
Yann, glad to hear you are okay!
And I thought the garage door spring incident was scary!
I’m glad to hear you’re alright.
WoWoW!!!!!! That is a remarkable story there! So glad you are safe! Sorry to hear about the rest of the apartment. . . at least you have yours cars to cheer you up when you need it!
Sorry to hear (& see) what happened, but glad you are safe, Yann. Hope things will get back to relatively normal for you soon.
Bon Courage mon Frere!!! Heureusement pour votre sante et aussi toutes les belles petites voitures!!!
Merde alors!!! Quelle histoire a attacher a votre collection!!!
