Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Closing the Books on Kmart CARS Day
This is the nicest Kmart setup – balloons, CARS table decorations …. nice
Mariela’s son says hi – nice Marine haircut – nice. Plus scoring a World Cup goal plus getting CARS. A nice weekend day.
While in Oregon, not as much effort …
If I leave them on the warehouse cart, I don’t need to reload it … tada.
Spare me, I’ve always been Spare O Mint – you just didn’t read it properly.
Was that a close shave or what, am I right Sputter Stop?
Thanks, “MackDaddy.”
And of course, it’s not the Kmart CARS Day Event without a closing poem from Wayne & Sandi Ransom and a nice email from daughter, Becky …
This year Dad and Mom were the only participants in the event. They braved pouring rain, flooding, and mud slides to claim the newest Cars for my friends and me. The area around my hometown, Riverton, Wyoming, is experiencing some of the worst flooding in recorded history. I’m not sure if that is what kept folks away this time or if there just wasn’t enough advertising. Dad said that other than the flier in the Sunday paper, there was no other indication that the event was scheduled. He said that his store didn’t even receive the posters they had in times past.
They are coming to visit this week, so my cars are on their way!
Thanks for all the information you provide on your web-site. It makes it easier for those of us collecting when we know what Dad needs to be keeping an eye out for! π
My brother in Denver has even joined the cause. He found the first set of Mia, Tia and Flo waitresses! Both my brother and my Dad will be spending this Thursday driving around Denver looking for any cars I’m missing and for more of the waitress sets.
My friend, Fran, is the owner of the MidPoint Cafe in Adrian, Texas. So named because it is the halfway point between Chicago and Los Angles on Route 66. She is the inspiration for Flo in the movie. Two of the girls who work for her were the inspirations for Mia and Tia. They are going to autograph the cars and sell them in the gift shop this summer! Sounds like fun, doesn’t it?!
Look, it’s the TakeFive CRAZY Checklist in FULL color! π
And of course, a lost art – real poetry – courtesy of Sandi Ransom …
Thanks for sharing and stay dry!
Very sad……..the mini Etch A Sketch in the background, on the key rack behind the checklist, is missing it’s left control knob.
Probably a victim of Sid!!!
I hear Sid will make a cameo in Toy Story 3.
Watch him be a high-paid executive at Mattel!
LOL that is so true. Nice one
MackDaddy are you from Oregon?!
No. Sunny So. Cal. π
Youre lucky. Today at lunch it was 41 degrees and hailing.
98 degrees here today. And I found 8 Dragon McQueens w/2010 guides at TRU today!! SCORE!! π
Well……another one is behind us,
Tachometer begat Tachomint;
Spearmint begat Sparemint;
There is no such thing as Spare O Mint. It would be as dumb as saying Tachmint.
And yes, I am the first person to use the word “begat” in a comment. π
Very nice! π
Amen! And if I’d realized that the label had been corrected, I’d’ve picked one up! Never could bring myself to say “Sparrow-Mint;” sounds like Altoids in a “Pirates of the Caribbean” special-edition box…
(Now that might make a cool custom; Jack Sparrow Mint!)
Clueless, someone in packaging at Mattel. SideWall O Shine be next?
At least the Speedway Box has SpareMint correctly spelled.
Spare O Mint is referring to the spare tire, is it not?
Spare, and “0” indicating the shape of the spare tire!
That’s my definition, am I’m stickin’ to it. π
The “O” IS the Spare Mint / spare tire. It’s not part of the name.
It’s Irish…….Spare O’Minty, laddie! π
Vamos Argentina!!! saludos y suerte con la colecciΓ³n, acΓ‘ es bastante complicado coleccionarlos todos, pero vengo bien. un abrazo

I really do quiero empanadas right about now. Or cereal…
(MET: Humm, Fruit Loops flavored empanadas?)
I wouldn’t try that.. π but I did make some empanadas! Yuuummy…
Great post! And nice cars too.
