Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Bumper Save Not Money Save
“Ryan E.” asks a good question – will the Bumper Save Hauler be released by itself – thus saving buying the Team Hauler Bumper Save (with hauler, racer & Pitty).
Especially with Bumper Save Pit & Crew Chief Team coming?
Sometimes it’s simple and we know but often it’s not.
As of right now, the single release of Bumper Save Hauler is NOT scheduled – but the schedule doesn’t go very far but sometimes the list doesn’t actually mean much of anything so what’s the verdict?
Um, don’t know?
And even when it’s scheduled like Pit Crew Bumper Save – will it comes out in July? In september? January 2011?
Look at Sidewall Shine when it was a TRU promo … in August 2008 – to many people it looked like you had to pay @$25 for him (Buy 5 CARS, mail in cards ($1.50) plus$5 handling) especially when 90% of the CARS on the shelf were Radiator Springs McQueen (or so it seemed) – many people passed … that Sidewall Shine quickly hit $70 dollars but now, 2 years later, the Sidewall Shine launcher is out – regular retail $9.99 …
So, disregarding the display case (or the eBay runup) – was it worth to wait 2 years to get it for $10 versus paying @$25 in 2008?
Not saying Bumper Save Hauler is the same scenario but maybe so you never know. Sometimes you have to wait 2 years to save $15 … other times, the wait isn’t as long so you never know but you in most cases, if it’s at regular retail price, a bird is in-on hand is worth more than what’s not in not in your shopping cart … so it’s not a wide gulf in pricing – and worse case scenario, you buy and hold it – waiting to see if you should open it if the single & the Pit Crew set comes out in a few months – sealed, with most CARS box sets, you might not realize a huge gain but you’re not likely to lose much money.
Hope that helps. Good luck!
ok i got side wall shine early in a launcher for 12 dollars why is he ina case for so much money?

The problem is that if the hauler isn’t released by itself, then that’s just another thing I need to get from a Target, which I DON’T have near me!
I live in Upstate NY, and I have never seen a single hauler beyond the wave with Gil. Seriously.
I can walk into ANY Wal-Mart, Target, or Toys R Us and have my choice of at least 2 dozen Gils and Trunk Fresh Haulers, but that’s it. I have never, ever seen an RPM Hauler, No Stall Hauler, Mood Springs Hauler, Shifty Drug Hauler, or Vinyl Toupee Hauler. EVER.
Am I one of a kind here? Is anyone else living in such a Hauler-deprived area?
Max, you are not alone buddy …. lots of areas STUFFED with Gils and Trunk Fresh Haulers … seems like very few of the NEWER haulers have hit the stores … no worries …. be patient as they WILL get there or some one here will find extras and can probably help you. 🙂
Yep, my boy and I (both 6 year olds) are experiencing withdrawal symptoms of epic proportion. We will be entering re-hab soon, but it’s a forced issue. All the while the family just shakes their heads when we try to explain to them that Mattel won’t give us the new products (our fix) fast enough, that doesn’t work. Now, I read this and the possibility may exist that we may not see Bumper Save individually, this is not even sounding good. Depression will set in and then will come the family meetings with psychologists.
If I see the Team Bumper Save set, I will buy it as I have the others. I just hope that Mattel will continue to release the haulers individually so I can continue my in-package display.
45 is the new 5 dude! I want them so I buy them and that’s it but each to his own. We just love ticking them off and playing with them. If I can afford it I will buy and then get the chief set as well because I love haulers, chiefs and pitties.
Well, 2 years is a looong time to wait for a 5 year old….or a 45 year old…..
Exactly…by the time you get it, they might be into something else! (the kids..)
Isn’t 45 the new 25? 😉
if I ever see the team set I will probably buy just because supply of the new haulers are spotty at best. either the shelf is full of Trunk Fresh or it is empty. and what’s an extra racer. I can give those away to the nephews to run on their tracks, crash, scratch and destroy. And you really need 4+ pitties to make a good team.
I didn’t get a Wench with my set??????
I guess you’d probably have to more more for that.
Yeah, I picked up on that “wench” thing too. 😉
MET:
does the TEAM bumper save pitty come with the wench? the picture above doesn’t have one, but the TEAM octane set pitty does have a wench. i thought this was mattel’s way of forcing people to buy the TEAM and the CREW set? or now is mattel just saying forget the wench, they know we’ll buy the set for the hauler, and forget the pitty with the wench??
(MET: I don’t think a lot of Pitty’s come with wrenches – is that the air gun like device? Besides Guido and Nutty – any others?)
The one with hauler does not.
The one with the cheif does it’s under the T5AD logo.
So yes Mattel is doing the same thing as Octane Gain.
Yes. Look closely through the Take5 logo. The wrench is there. So in the hauler set, the racer is the only previously released car. Now, I was smart, by waiting. Now look what there is for me.
I have bought all the haulers and Team sets so far… I have created super sets by combining the Team Crew set and Team set together for HTB, Dinoco, and Leakless. I was going to do the same with Octane Gain but ended up putting everything but the hauler from the team set into a display case… The haulers in the team set may be slightly different – there’s something that may be attached to the hauler – I don’t know if it comes off or not but I’ll check my Octane Gain when I get home from work.
Target needs to liquidate the old team crew sets to make room for the 5 new ones that are listed on their website (but not available) – Bumper Save, Easy Idle, Nitroade, N2O Cola, and Octane Gain… They would also make it easier on themselves and on us by allowing us to order the specific team crew sets from their website…
Well seeing how there is no re-release of No Stall, RPM or Mood Springs haulers (and we won’t know about Vinyl Toupee or Shifty Drug until the next case), why take the chance to save less than $10 now and risk paying much more later???
I can walk into pretty much any Target or TRU and pick up No Stall and RPM, and there are still plenty of Mood Springs on Amazon. I don’t think they are very good examples.
That being said, there may never be a release of a single Bumper Save Hauler. The haulers have been slow sellers from the start, and seem to be moving even slower these days. So I do agree if you see the Team set, it may be wise to pick one up.
I’ve also seen Mood Springs at several Targets, though it’s a little harder to come by than the others mentioned.
Are the pit & crew chief sets a Target exclusive also? I haven’t found any of the new ones. The shelves here are still overflowing with King, Chick and Leak Less sets. Has anyone found the new Vinyl Toupee and Shifty Drug haulers?
Well I found Vinyl Toupee and Shifty Drug here in Australia but have never seen No Stall, RPM or Mood Springs in the wild of Australian retail shops.
The problem is that as far as qualifications go for Mattel marketing and distribution brains are optional.
collectormom, don’t give up hope! They are available in Target. I was lucky enough to pick up one of each a couple of weeks ago in southwestern Indiana.
Which ones did you find? The only one I know for sure is out is the Octane Gain set
My Target had both the Vinyl Toupee and Shifty Drug haulers on the shelf on the same day. I think store security was about to call the police about the weird guy dancing and screaming in the toy aisle.
😆
And then there’s the wide pitty with the impact wrench Vs. the one without…
FOUR DIAGONALLY!
Pretty sneaky Mattel.
I think it all depends on the collector. For example, I can wait for Gask-its or Tach0mint to eventually show up but if the released the Train as a diecast I would do what ever I could to get my hands on one.
patience pays off most of the time….but what if it ends up being too late once the second movie comes out and they decide not to overlap this particular hauler? eh, but then again, what do any of us know for sure when it comes to Mattel? just roll with the dice and hope for the best….
Agreed. The Cars usually always show up eventually, somehow or other.
