Thanks, Matt!
It’s a good thing I found out that Corey Burton is replacing the late Paul Newman to voice Doc Hudson in Cars 2 and Brian George is replacing the late George Carlin to voice Fillmore in Cars 2 and Craig Ferguson is replacing the late and great Joe Ranft to voice Red in Cars 2, that film is coming to theaters summer 2011.
my 2-year-old will definitely like it!
hope the price is not too high
I rather get the non-Duplo Toy Story 3 Lego sets instead of these. These don’t look like the Cars movie cars.
I actually heard about this last Christmas from an employee at a LEGO store. Still, pretty cool.
Why Duplo? My son loves his LEGOs, and he’d love a LEGO CARS set or three, but he won’t be interested in any Duplo “baby toys”.
The “Toy Story” sets are LEGO, but he’s not interested in “Toy Story.”. Shoulda been the other way around IMHO…
As for the LEGO “kits” vs. the use-your-imagination sets, fear not! My son enjoys building the latest “Star Wars” and “Indiana Jones” sets very much, but once he’s got them built and played out, he takes them apart and kitbashes new things! He’s made more starships and speeders and minifig mashups (“Indiana Clones and the Phantom Menace,” anyone?) from his imagination than I can keep track of!
Even the generic sets that I had in my youth typically came with a set of instructions for building specific “models;” a house, a barn, a truck, a crane, etc. It’s not that different…
LOL, yes, my boys do the same thing. They don’t even put the stickers on them when they build them because that compromises the blocks’ usability for other stuff later.
We all know everybody loves Toy Story. But not your kid? A lot of people wanna go see Toy Story 3. Maybe your kid thinks Toy Story is old. Or maybe he’s like the only person that doesn’t wanna see Toy Story because he’s not interested in Toy Story.
He hasn’t been interested in the Toy Story LEGOs. He’s seen the movies on video at his after-school program (they show movies when the weather keeps them inside), but hasn’t been interested in watching them at home, either.
Hey this might feed the hunger for FIXED EYE CARS ….. dang you Mattel …. it will not work on US!! 😆
OK, let me guess… Comming Soon – LEGO GASK-ITS, LEGO TACK-O-MINT, and LEGO APPLE, after all they don’t seem to be making it any other way!
ok I hope these are very early prototypes because they don’t look very impressive.
There is no imagination or creativity with Lego’s anymore. You used to be able to build whatever you want with bricks, now they just give you the finished product.
I’m not sure about that; at least not with my kids. We had the wagon of Mega Blocks for them as toddlers. All they did was build a tall tower and knock it down. We got some of the Mega Block Cars sets and they loved them; played with them for hours. Now we have Lego sets and same thing. If I let them they would play Lego ALL day. I wish I had the Lego minifigures as a kid. We didn’t have enough Lego bricks to build a house big enough for Barbie to hang out in.
I think Lego.com lets you order as many bricks as you want, so at least they’re allowing for some freedom.
I find the best buys for Lego bricks and Lincoln logs to be Goodwill and other thrift stores, as well as yard sales and defunct daycare centers. I’ve picked up zerox boxes full of bricks for $3.00-$5.00. We still have my sons complete (bricks, boxes and instructions) Town & City sets from the late 1970’s and early 1980’s. It took a week to rebuild everything and get them all back in their appropriate boxes for storage! 🙁
Oh, John, you have to check out the Lego website! I get their catalog, and there are some pretty impressive structures which require some time and effort to assemble.
I’ve got a Family Home from their Creator line that has 976 pieces and can be built into 3 different types of homes, whichever one you choose!
Who wants to meet up at Legoland/California???
Their WATERPARK opens this summer! 🙂
Lego just keeps getting cooler it seems.
Toy Story and now Cars. Yep 2 cool for school.
