Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Kmart CARS Day 4 Rumors & “Official Outfit”
The next Kmart CARS Day #4 is June 12, 2010 in case you have not heard.
Of course, more details will be forthcoming – don’t worry – another 2 months to plan your strategy.
Yes, there is a photo floating around on eBay.overseas that is most likely a Piston Cup racer from that day – the one of Dale Jr, with rubber tires. The interesting thing is that he seems to be the Dale Jr. expression and body from the MSOS set …
In the Motor Speedway of the South set, Dale Jr. (as photo above shows) got a “different” body and he’s all snarly … and this seems to be one outfitted with rubber tires – he was presumed to be the exclusive CAR and in theory he still is since the MSOS CARS do not have rubber tires.
The “normal” Dale Jr. looks like this, of course …
He hasn’t been out in a while but he is scheduled as a launcher.
So, how does a release of a rubber tire version of the MSOS Dale affect its value?
I would say short term, sure he might drop in price for a few weeks but ultimately, I don’t think much will change – the MSOS CARS are still the MSOS CARS. Pristine, peerless, buttery quality CARS unmatched in production quality of a regular run – even an exclusive.
And don’t forget the MSOS Dale Jr even comes in an ultra rare variant version …

But a few legitimate ones escaped the factory without the correct Dale Jr. signature …
How did this happen? Because only the Dale Jr’s require his signature & © marking and the only place to fit it in in the production number space. But since MSOS Dale Jr. used the Nitroade-like body, they presumably forgot about the special requirements but realized it somewhere down the line and fixed it …
So, MSOS – always special. 🙂

I live in a small town and the kmart i go to is tiny. I’m the only one ever there
The one thing I didn’t see is what time it starts. For those who attened in the past what time does it normally start?
11:00am your time.
It’s usually set up near the Toy Department or even in the Sporting Goods section. Around 10:45am they’ll pass out tickets, and then at 11:00am they begin to draw random tickets to see which 5 or 6 people get the first chance to go through a case.
You get 5 minutes to pick 5 Cars. When you’re finished, they dump the case remnants into a tub under the table.
Then they draw again and continue the same process until all cases have been looked through. Finally, the tubs with the case remnants are dumped out on the table for all to go through.

and how about some new Pitty exclusives like they did with Vitoline in Day 2? Lots of cars out there without pittys. Just ask my 2 1/2 year old.

I asked Dev, the VP of Kmart Toys last time and didnt get a reply. but the ones handed out at the events near here in Utah were the Multicar 2008 posters and white background. I didnt even see flyers either

Sigh…. More K day, More anticipation, more rubber tires, if these are linticular it will be what I need to help me quit buying these at just about 5 bucks a pop. I have the SOTS set and I still buy more.. why oh why I don’t know.
After selling the Cars Toons for 2.99 each on sale at my Kmart, they raised the price to 5.29 each… go figure.
10 to 1 says these are lenticular……. Everything else is.
Speculating on what is coming at K Day 4 is fun, but we will know fairly soon.
Dev’s team is in discussions this week. “To determine when we can release the mix. I will advise you once we have a conclusion.”

All of last June’s racers were produced in February and March, so I’ve got to think that the mix for this June is already produced, and certainly already known. Not too sure what “conclusions” they could come up with at this late stage.
Of course they know the mix. Its the when can we release the info that is in discussion.
I’ll bet you any cases sold online will sell out in less than 10 minutes.
If the selection is better than KDay3 they will, but I wouldn’t count on it if the selection is poor.

If this Dale Jr. is indeed a Kmart car, he’ll probably be the star of the show because of the new expression and obviously the name recognition. I think the only thing that could top him would be the Apple icar, but I don’t see that happening.
I hope the whole case is non-lenticular. That would be a nice sight. Heck, why not forget the Target-exclusivity and throw in some Final Lap cars that so many people have had a hard time finding. I would love to be able to pick up an Antonio, Skip Ricter or Wrecked Mood Springs. They always include some already-released cars in the cases, so why not make them ones that people will actually buy instead of leaving behind by the dozens?

The “slanket” can be made in at least 9-10 car prints. I make similiar for tiny cars lovers but only found 9 different prints so far.
PJ pants are more practical since they allow easy movement and snatching ability LOL.

I agree with the “first ten” on your list, they like to replace all the newer ones in the market: duplicate launchers, because they know we can’t resist an excellent varient!
I agree with your first ten: all except for Lightning, the King and Chick. Why? Because it would make too much sense!
I think that Mattel is pumping the market full of regular McQueens, because someone made a production error and made “millions” of them. So, they will wait until we’ve all exhausted our resources and given up in ever finding the cars we really want (Cars promised us such as the N2O Cola Pitty! or Hi-Low Ramone). Then and only then will they release Lightning with rubber tires. And we’ll all buy him. Why? Because we love him thats why.
You can forget Apple. Mattel stated in a Q&A back in 2008 that won’t be getting released.
after futher thoughts knowning mattel i believe they will make another speedway set at some point. and the apple car at kmart with the rubber tires. that is different from the speedway set release besides mattel allways says its not going to make another of some limited produced hot wheel and its not true they make more so it will be in this case before its over i am sure.
