Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: Final Lap State & Review

Well, at least for CASE E, it looks like the distribution-purchasing is working much better. I have actually seen some on the shelves … and no, I do not get up at the crack of dawn to race into a store – unless they are giving away free breakfast or my pants are on fire.

So, hopefully, these have been easier to find for you. Some people have actually reported seeing two to three cases at a store so with 1,800 Targets and with 3 of the new ones in each case, that makes for a much more reasonable math.

If you’re collecting Final Laps (well, the new ones), here’s what we’ve gotten so far – hope you’re playing along at home and are all caught up …

CASE A

CASE B

CASE C

CASE D

and CASE E.

Presumably CASE F is coming with Jamie, Johnny and McQueen with Cone … (again, no wagering) and I’m going to say check back in Target after the Easter reset which is April 4th …

Happy hunting!

I found Case E in FLA this past weekend!! I was still in shock …. and forgot to report it …. 🙂

  • boots says:

One target in south west michigan had the leniclar version of jay, vern, & antonio- no chase king & not the previous case either at any of the 7eral targets in our area… NO sign of final lap, been going there for the last 2 weeks…..

  • shtev says:

Any advice on the best way of getting hold of Final Lap cars in the UK (other than on the take5 trading forum 🙂

I’m wondering whether just to give up on the non-lenticulars, but it does annoy me having the latter half of the collection lenticular-only while also having a non-complete lenticular range.

I’ll swap all my new-release lenticular for final laps at the drop of a hat!

(MET: As of now, they are only available at Target US Stores … no online availability …).

    • shtev says:

Yeah, it sucks really, and the eBay prices are at least double, especially annoying when I’ve been picking the Lenticulars up cheap in ASDA. Maybe I should start up a Target franchise in the UK just for cars!

  • I never saw Case B in Florida.

  • materrocks says:

    Thornton, CO
I found wet McQueen at the Broomfield Target, here in Colorado. Aside from him-nothing else new.

  • Jay67 says:

    Still nothing in my area

  • cac1959 says:

No sign of Final Lap Case E in Indianapolis (IN) or Dayton (OH)… at the risk of getting a MET edit, Target distribution $uck$

  • por356 says:

I live in southwestern Indiana. I was in Target last weekend and picked up Donna Pitts and Nick Stickers from Case D. I got One Eyed Mater on Thursday at the same store. On a whim, I got there at 8:00 AM this morning (Saturday). Not only did I pick up a Ransburg King, but I watched a clerk bring out a handful of the Case D characters (including the three I already had) and hang them up!
At least in my area, it looks like things are slowly starting to break loose – if you are there to take advantage of the situation. Now I just hope I do not have to microwave these words before I eat them.

  • racerguy says:

I never saw D and had to eBay them. Still looking for E. I’m in the San Diego area. But I’m glad to hear that others are finding them easier now.

    • Monica says:

Just saw a couple cases worth of Case D on the pegs at the Clairemont Mesa (on Balboa) storre this morning! Crazy! I was hopeing to find another set of these, so I was very happy.

  • Jericho1 says:

Nothing in Michigan yet (the Detroit Metro-Area).

    -Jericho1

  • kdthomas says:

Never saw Case D in Northern California but I was lucky to hit two Targets that got Case E. Both stores I confirmed received two cases each along with one case of the latest lenticulars.

  • stephanie j says:

no E in Minneapolis area yet. D just showed at 1 Target about 2 weeks ago. The others are coasting on empty (pegs) right now.

  • BigMOCats says:

No case E in St. Louis yet. Did have stores get case D 3 times, the last was just last week.

  • phantomrs says:

Case E has not hit here in Louisville, KY yet. We got new cases last week but they were the case D again. If anyone has an extra set of the case E offerings, I’m in need! I have paypal! Thanks Just email matthew1090@mac.com Thanks

  • Daniel says:

The state of Final Laps seems to be California (and perhaps Texas).

A scan of eBay and no other states have received case E.

  • CarzFANatic says:

Still have not seen case E here in South Carolina. Both of the Targets that are near me said that they are not planning on ordering anymore Final laps anytime soon because they have enough in stock to satisfy their inventory system ( 3 Final laps at one location, 10 at the other). So far we have missed out on cases B, D and now E. Way to drop the ball Target.

  • Max says:

Hey MET, are we supposed to see any *REPACKS* of the new Final Lap cars? It makes no sense to me that every Target got like 1 case of Cases A, B and C and NONE of the new cars have been repacked into the refresher cases. Mattel can’t possibly think they met demand for Polly Puddlejumper and such… can they?

(MET: We should have about 6-8 more Final Lap cases so it would seem logical but impossible to tell as it’s all very close to the vest …).

  • shery1975 says:

I’ve never seen the muddy mcqueen and the target I usually go to just now has several donna pits, nick stickers, and one eye mater, the blowing bubbles mater I ended up getting in the set (we collect for my son to play with)…maybe one day will find the others.

  • I-am-speed says:

Our nearest Target did get 3 cases of Final Lap D, so it’s not a myth. The problem is that now they’re sitting on the pegs, possibly indicating that their system is now replenishing too quickly, rather than dispersing them to stores that did not get that case.

It’s all related to peg quantity. If those pegs don’t get down to a count lower than something around “4” regarding DPCI 087-07-0116, their computer system won’t kick out another case to that store.

  • Mike H says:

Word of Pit Crew Sarge being released in CAse E again makes me wonder:

Should I put down $15+ for Antonio on eBay, or wait in hopes that he’ll be re-released?

  • Jinzo says:

My store never got Case D… sad…. and I learned from Case A…. I didn’t get Bubble Blowing Mater. Now I know… How come they do put him again in the newer cases like PCM Sarge? Man… Missing 4 out of all of those… BB Mater, Donna Pits, Nick Stickers, & One Eye Mater. 🙁

  • I want Case E! I missed Case B!

  • Bob Eckel/TheeNaughty Knight says:

A picture TRUELY worth a 1,000 WORDS. THANK YOU TAKE 5, now if I could just find those 5 Cases!

  • Ace Diamondrunner says:

Hey T5-ers. Been awhile since I replied, but I’ve been keeping up with the posts. Hope all are well!

Met, thanks so much for this post. Good to see where my Targets stand in the grand scheme of things. Dying to get the wrecked Mood Springs – a car that’s trashed – can’t wait to explain that one to the wife 🙂

    thanks again!

  • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Well, Target at Lakewood (Pierce County) WA got in another case of Final Laps yesterday, BUT, it was Case D again! I guess with the same Target product code, the distribution center just grabs anything and tosses it onto the pallet. Target on Union Avenue, Tacoma has too many old Final Laps on the pegs to trigger a re-order. But, since I will be in the area for the seasonal open house for the Tacoma Rainiers (PCL League-Seattle Mariners affiliate), I’ll give in another try. Nice day for free hot dogs anyway!

Those looking for Wave 2 of 2010 Marvel Universe action figures, they are starting to show up at Target also. Another reason to stop and check.

    • Steve AKA: Poppa says:

Update- Target on Union Avenue, Tacoma, WA stocked Case D today. That’s at least the fourth shipment to that store. Good turnout at Cheney Stadium for the pre season festivities for the Tacoma Rainiers. Warm, sunny and free hot dogs and soda.

  • John in Missouri says:

I love these pictorial reviews — thank you Met!!

  • jmularczyk says:

Final Laps on the shelf – really? Hey Met it’s not April fool day for another 11 days.

  • buckland-blowouts says:

Target Canada is still a dream… Or has someone spotted one up here already!?!?!?

    DOH!

  • babychristianscars says:

Awesome. I am so thankful to take 5 and the awesome people that help me get these.

Without take 5 I’d never own the final lap since NO target within 2 hours of me.

I’ve had the sarge with gas can for 5-6 weeks now but its lenticular.

  • beast1997 says:

Enough of bogus reports here of 2 to 3 cases a store thats not even close .
there are 1600 targets thats a fact.
another fact not all have final laps 2 stores 5 miles away from me dont carry them not even a peg for them. they dont sell final lap in there stores my store that i go to is 1 mile away that store got 2 cases so far. 1 case with blowing bubbles mater 1 case with muddy mcqueen case so to assume every target get the same amount thats stupid and not a fact.

    • Eric says:

Wow, really? So angry? First of all, the reports of MET and others on here aren’t bogus. If you haven’t seen them in your area, then that’s fine. As long as you don’t report seeing them when you aren’t, there are no bogus reports. We aren’t talking about alien spacecraft here, just toys on pegs. “1,600 targets thats a fact” … actually, no, it’s not. This time last year, they had 1,699 and have since opened a good 100 more making the 1,800 number in the post more of a fact. I tried to make it through the rest of the post, but without punctuation and spell check, I honestly couldn’t follow your thought pattern. If I were you, I’d be careful throwing around terms like “stupid”… Enjoy!

    • Mariela says:

Actually, my Target has received at least 3 cases…
Some Targets doesn’t show that they have on back room and the next day I went back to another one and they were all hanging on the pegs…where this came from?
So maybe when you went, someone else took them and you hardly saw them on the pegs.
Targets are getting the final laps, and I think is the demand they have for F.L. is actually how they are re-stocking..
Sorry you are getting a hard time finding them..but you’ll see them!
Today we found the case D at the same Target that we found case E 2 weeks ago..

    • Edge says:

From the Target website “Today, Target operates nearly 1,750 stores in 49 states”.

So Met’s 1,800 is just a tad closer than your “fact” of 1,600. Maybe you should do some checking before you report something as a “fact”.

  • Nascarfan says:

Met, were those your own pictures?

    (MET: This post? Yes).

    • Nascarfan says:

I should have had you grab the Wrecked Mood Springs

      • michele says:

I thought the exact same thing myself!

      • michele says:

The target right around the corner from me here in PA never carries final lap. Luckily I have a Target about 10 miles away across the Jersey border that does. They’ve had all the cases up to D so far, but I haven’t been there to get all of them. Fortunately at the last KMart day I met a fellow collector and we’ve been doing our best to help each other out in our area. Seems to be working well. I am looking forward to case E.
This was a great post MET!!!! I was getting so confused about what to look for and if I was caught up, and these pictures really make a difference! THANKS AGAIN for all you do on this site!!!

  • Matt says:

Have never seen case B or C, D is sitting on the shelves with tons to spare and hoping for a race damaged mood springs for Christmas…

Anybody else think it’s funny that stickers is facing the wrong way in the package where you can’t see his door panel stickers from the front?

    • carscrazydd says:

I think it’s odd that he isn’t in the package so that all his stickers are displayed.

Nick Stickers is still mint on card and got his spot, hanging on a push pin on my collection wall, except I can’t see all his stickers.

At least the camera shot on the card front shows off the stickers I should be able to see, that will have to do!

  • jestrjef says:

Great pictorial review!! It really is an AWESOME series of cars …. and I hope Target gets the distribution a little better …. the case assortments have been FANTASTIC! Bravo and bring on some more!! 🙂

  • lou says:

    still haven’t seen in Chicago

  • Jeff says:

    Enough with McQueens already!
