Dexter Hoover with a green flag?
He could not be more different than his yellow flag & checkered flag counterparts … It’s like night and um, night time … several minutes later.
Though his eyes AND his mouth expression and the flag are different so dude (of all genders and ages), you gotta let him in …

But Dexter with Green Flag is not a variant but a NEW RELEASE.
Nope, the variant is Axel …

Nope, not the grill, it’s slightly darker silver but not significantly different …
ANSWER – He has an extra line on the window – it was missing before … he was a sedan before – if you look, there is definitely a second door but now, he has the proper window sill line …

And of course, 4 Axel releases – 4 slightly different Axel’s (well, two are called Rescue Squad Trooper, but Axel, we’d know you anywhere – you with the banana in the tailpipe trick, we’re not falling for that again!)

AND … apparently the Axel in the egg is the updated variant version …

I personally like the Dexter with a yellow flag
maybe they should release 2 variants of Tj in each case,

Hasn’t the Rescue Squad Trooper always had the extra line on the window? I think they just took RST and changed the decals.

Checked the ones I have and you guys are right. The RST and his variant grille versions have the post line on the window. Has anyone found a RST with the Axle grille and New sunburst?
(MET: I’m pretty sure that’s what most are – I don’t have the energy to drag mine out but I’ll look next time).
They should do a Dexter Hoover with a red flag and give him a surprised expression like they were originally going to do to the one with the checkered flag.

Yeah, but… but… The Green Flag Dexter in the photo of the sealed 5-pack isn’t the same as the Green Flag Dexter in the out-of-package photos! The flag position isn’t the same – one’s in the air, the other is at his side. Did I miss something, or are there really TWO Green Flag Dexter variant/versions??
(MET: In the packaging, it’s TIED to the side – otherwise, it might snap off the holder during transit – but once you open it, the flag is loose and goes in the side mirror holder).
Now I really want this set!

It will be interesting to see how many of the TRU exlcusive 5-packs end up with a “replacement part” insterted into the fifth slot and returned. If I decide to bite the bullet and pay $20 for a green flag and a window line, I am going to give that 5-pack more than a quick glance before I walk it up to the counter. I could just imagine being the one that brings home the 5-pack with lenticluar checkered flag Dexter insert. 🙂

Gotta ask the obligatory question, will Dexter (with green flag) be released as a single in the final Lap series? Did a quick scan of the check list posted the other day and did not see him listed. But do remember seeing it on a list from ages ago. Anyone know for sure?
(MET: The plan all along seems to be for him to be part of a multi-pack as he was never listed on any singles list – most presumed he would be part of a 3-pack … this should hold true for the next 6 months – after that?)

but i do agree that mattel know how to empty our pockets. gotta collect them all. think ive got some sort of dis-order were i just cant walk past ANY car a havnt got!!

I guess I better double check my 3 Dexters and the 2 Axles when I get home. I saw plenty of the Easter Eggs at 3 Target stores on Sunday and left them all… Saw only 1 Nick and 1 Donna… no Team Octane Gain crew sets or hauler team sets. No Spare Mint or Sputter Stop Pit Row race-off launchers… no Mood Springs Hauler. No 2010 Collector Guides anywhere either.
Here’s hoping the spring resets reset soon…
UGH …… I think Mattel just forgets how they did it the LAST time …. do they REALLY pay some DUDE to sit in a cubicle to MAKE these VARIANTS to suck us in???
