Mattel Disney Pixar Diecast CARS: International Desert Back Complete Set …
Last week, “Buckland Blowouts” was kind enough to send us pics of the oddball International Desert back cards that feature no names or minimal names on the front … there has always been some question whether a full set is available, it turns out we didn’t have far to look …
“Rippers” has not only the FULL SET BUT BOTH SETS …
The mythical Desert Art 12 International Card with no front name plate …
But wait, “Rippers” didn’t stop there. He has the FULL SET of Desert Art 16 International Cards with no front name plate.
This one might actually be more surprising that it exists – super nice! Nice looking cards also … something tells me “Ripper” didn’t just start collecting yesterday. 🙂
AND he even has both Fillmore-Filmore Cards …
More rarity!
Plus a nice set of Movie Moments …
But hey, why solve two mysteries when you can open yet another mystery 🙂
He has some cards with only numbers …
As “Rippers” notes, “There seems to be a 12 back with codes on the back instead of names but I have only found Lizzie,Sarge and Wingo like that. 12 back with no name on the front and a 12 back with the name under the car and names under the cars on the back.”
Which interestingly enough matches up with the earliest cards for the US, the Lizzie, Sarge & Wingo with NO “promotional” information on the back right so they may have been the earliest ones okayed for production and Mattel was maybe hoping by using production numbers, it would simpler to do card production but my guess is either Disney-Pixar nixed it or even Mattel realized it didn’t look great …
Again, nice rarity.
But “Rippers” is just getting warmed up.
As if the above photos were rare enough, how about the International Box Set version of the “BJ Warehouse” 6-CAR Box Set?
Yes, I actually remember seeing these on eBay and I think like most – thought – not US edition, not interested 🙂
I think if someone were to say this is the rarest international box set, I would have to agree …
Great stuff, “Rippers,” a true museum-quality collection – most impressive!
Hope it’s all stored in a nice dry safe location.
Thanks for sharing your great collection – clears up at least a couple mysteries. 🙂
He was also kind enough to include all the date codes …

Hi, i have a lizzie that isnt in the box but is there any way of telling what series etc it is without this? i was just interested to know. Thanks.
Hi! This is WAY late but if you’re still here… You can sort of tell by using the production number on the bottom of the cars. Usually a 4-digit number. The last digit is the year, the first 3 are the day within the year. For example, a car with a production number of 2839 would have been produced on the 283rd day of 2009.
Sweet stuff Dude!
You got me all worked up tryin’ to see how I can add to my “Oddball” set of desert card backs!!!
Wish I had enough wall space with protective glass coverin’ to display them al, eh!!!
I’m jealous. Thanks for sharing. I always liked and miss how they told a short story about the character on the back of the Desert Back cards.
Ahh old Memories 🙂
😆 really
Yeah 🙂
Wowsers!!! Is it just me or are the desert backs the best card back? Love them!!!
They are the first and still the best! I have my USA collection in the protected plastic covers.
Great collection, Rippers! I’m glad to see the photos.
I don’t suppose you’ll accidentally send these in the next package you send to me, eh? I didn’t think so, but it didn’t hurt to ask…
Thanks again for sharing the photos.
Those make me feel like dancin’!
Excellent collection, very impressive to see it. Had no idea there was a international version of BJ’s.
I’m not sure that’s what they meant by “Collect Them All”… I’m sticking to “Collect One Of Each”….and even then I’m having a hard time 🙂
So those would be lead-based-paint Sarges on those cards?
supposedly the first ones are ok – my Thailand one was fine according to the recall website. I think it was the supercharged ones when the lead problem occurred.
BTW forgot to say, very nice collection!!!
Wow impressive. All I ever cared about was making sure we had 1 of each; never paid much attention to the “details”. This is really excellent and clearly well-cared for
Ditto on that collectormom! OPEN THEM ALL!! well……not those ones 🙂
I am sooo jealous. Sweet collection of DBs guys.
HOLY COW! That is some serious stuff there dude!! Very nice. 🙂
